Pre Season and L1 plan
Posted by Piilkinhio on 8/6/2025, 14:59:58
Remember the days when we planned our business early, strategically to match a way of playing. We had the best chance of starting well. Let’s see where we get to this pre season, can’t be as bad as the last one.
Love to see us get our key business done early, ins and outs
Given how poor they were I’d also have them back in early. They took their break during the season!
Don’t know what to make of the coming season. Surely the club realise that last season failures started in pre season and that this season it’s crucial we get it right. The biggest task is turning the losing habit into a winning one. There’s no doubt we have one of the best squads in the league, if not the best, but that doesn’t count for anything without a winning mentality. Refreshing the squad won’t be easy but thankfully we seem to have the right people in place. The main objective is to identify players who want to play for this club. Those who don’t want to be here can leave. No more going through the motions.
As many have commented our players looked far from fit until MB came in and made them work.
Who ever stays or comes in needs a proper pre season to make sure they are fully fit, this division is no push over, we have enough quality so we need to be faster and stronger, physically and mentally, to go straight back up. What kind of fool would follow signs that were never there.
Fair enough, I meant more that they were "failed signings" rather than failures personally. The whole squad failed as footballers, but those two were mostly excluded from squads after Bloomfield came in so I'm assuming that the Club has written them off.
With the season starting in about seven weeks, they should return for pre-season in a week. Hopefully, it will be a proper pre-season without this "last-minute Luton" nonsense.
Title favourites and able to pay the biggest wages
We are stuffed full of players who have all played at a much higher level, a fit and healthy Baptiste is a quality player at this level, Marv likewise.
Recruitment is easy, if we want the best player in League 1 or 2, they will come.
We have a number of players who will leave and could be make-weights in incoming deals, Mads, Brown, Woodrow and Holmes.
We must sign cover for Eli and replace Woodrow and Brown - that is urgent and we need those players in and playing in pre-season.
Quite the contrary, they treated it as a retirement run down and easy money. In all my years of being a supporter I have never felt the disgust I do now.
