Did it a couple of months ago. It's meaningful for Luton fans but anyone else probably wouldn't be that bothered about it. I think it was advertised as about an hour but I am sure our guide took his time and let it go on a bit longer than that. Makes you realise it's just a shell surrounding a field where 22 blokes run after a bag of wind, but somehow that captivates you for your whole life. I wanted to see it before it's gone forever.outlaws is not the barometer of sanity.
I'm not involved on that part of HH and haven't done the tour. Probably, like you, the gantry over the Bobbers is the only part I would do the tour for. Having said that, other experienced fans who have been dragged along by relations have said they enjoyed it and learnt something.
Mr J.C. Lomax having been called upon to give his opinion upon the proposed formation of a Town Club, said he was most emphatically in favour of a proposed Luton Town Football Club - 11th April 1885
My mate Chris (who you've met, a regular guest at Crumpsall Towers and goes to most/all away games) is one of the guides as part of the Hatters Heritage team. Always fancied RADSB's walking tour of the town and club history too.
If you want to do my tour just text me a date and time and I'll sort it. I have a small waiting list and can always advertise to get a few more along.
It takes about 90 minutes and ends at Dallow Road so we could time it for a ruby and a pint or two afterwards.
No charge for you as you've been very generous helping HH. Likewise any members or Patrons. Others can donate what they can afford via the website. Mr J.C. Dunno, but a couple of years ago I was odd-jobbing as a meter reader, and had to read a gas meter at the ground. Had a good tour all round the ground (and the office at the top of Oak Road). Found lots of gas meters, but not the actual one I was supposed to read!
KR tours consist of the Eric Morecambe Lounge, Boardroom, Trophy Room, home and away changing rooms, refs room, tunnel, back of the Oak Road, gantry, media room in the KR corner, dugouts, Press room (old Nick Owen)and the John Moore Lounge. Takes between an hour and 90 minutes.
