So close between Arsenal and Coventry but selected Coventry as being able to watch (although not the pens) with both my kids and 3 of the grandchildren made the celebrations at full time extra special. Certainly didnt cry at Arsenal but maybe that was am age thing.....
Blimey there are so many others to choose from too… Home to Poxford, Keane’s corner Home to Brentford, Martin Allen is a wanker, is a wanker Home to West Ham, cup game Oakes solo The home thrashings of Plymouth & Stevenage Etc. Etc.
Last day of the season before we won the conference, was away at Southport, we won 3-1 and I remember walking out thinking John Still has got this right, I've never felt so confident about an upcoming season, truly great feeling (wish it was how I felt about next season today :-()
Graham French, night game at Aldershot. Beats the full back, leaves him on his arse, then takes the ball back around him for fun before planting a perfect cross onto Ian Buxton's head. At least, that's how I like to remember it. Magic moments.
Carlisle at home 1970. 3-0 down at home at half time. Standing soaked on a virtually empty Kenilworth Road terrace (long before it had a roof). Most supporters had either paid to transfer to the Bobbers Stand, or gone home at half time. We came back to draw 3-3 and, if my recollection is correct, had a MacDonald goal ruled out which would have made it 4-3. 6-1 game against them in 1973, with 6 goals in the first half was also special.
One of my earliest memories was that Carlisle match. Was too soaked in the Kenilworth end. First match was against Port Vale in the 4th division promotion season, felt sorry for PV as they were at the bottom and seeking re-election.
Crewe at home late 60’s. Game abandoned due to fog. Was working on the gates at that time and angry supporters banging on the now closed gates demanding a refund.
All great moments i couldnt get to coventry final i was working and dancing around that day at work.
For me Derby the last game of season that Tim Breaker freekick was a beaut.i will never forget that afternoon. Its was amazing seeing the fans go mad when the slow motion kingsley Black goal went in
