Never have watched it since Katrina and the Waves won it for us. But it seems to have turned into some LGBT/ gay festival….when did that happen?

Hasn't Eurovision always been the gayest thing possible? Besides, how would you know if you haven't watched it for 30 years?
I get a £5 free bet if Spain win, though so...

Have we ever taken it seriously. Most countries send their most famous artist, or in Swedens case have rounds, semi finals and a final. We send mostly unheard of artists who try and fit into the genre of the competition. The UK hasn’t done well since every nation could sing in English. It seems to very popular in Europe though. Personally I’d rather spend 5 hours in the dental chair undergoing root canal treatment without an anesthetic than watch that crap.

Yeah agree, but he least kept it in the closet to a degree… Though my main point was that it used to be a family event, bit like the Cup Final.
No doubt that nut job Sam Smith is just twitching to be involved in some format?

If you want the honest answer, the competition was expanded to include ex soviet nations, many of whom have quite archaic laws towards homosexuals. These same nations also put a lot of effort into trying to win the contest and it became a big event on their tv schedules.
This resulted in the entries from more tolerant nations becoming increasing extreme as a reaction and a means of embarrassing twerps like putin and showing support for people who are discriminated against. This then created something that made it something where the winner is just whatever shocks or pushes the boundaries the most resulting in something that was always shit becoming even worse.

After the drag artist who wore a dress and a beard won in 2014 the LGBTQ thing has been ramped up and every year artists try to outdo the previous year to try to shock us and send us some sort of message. It's a distraction from the purpose of the event - the songs. It does however, make it a bit of a laugh and an added bonus is that it annoys many. Mr J.C. Lomax having been called upon to give his opinion upon the proposed formation of a Town Club, said he was most emphatically in favour of a proposed Luton Town Football Club - 11th April 1885

Katie Boyle must be turning in her grave.Things will get worse before they get better, and better before they get worse. Or vice-versa. Tomorrow, I expect, will be somewhere in between.

Katie would have laughed and taken it in her stride. Terry Wogan was the best though just taking the mickey constantly. Mr J.C. The music though is now secondary, it’s now more about dressing up as Swan in a pair of Pink Wellingtons, total bolox. Can’t they just all fuck off to their own dedicated TV Channel.
Actually are their any Hetrosexuals involved?
