Nathan speaking about Luton last night

“At Luton we built a juggernaut.
We built a team that was relentless in everything we did. And there were no trap doors. We had year on year progression. That’s what we’ve got to do at Charlton.“

Forgot the source (8 mins in).
He's an ambitious, disloyal, chest-thumping, self-publicist responsible for some woeful performances. And I still wish he was our manager.

Hear hear, rather his ego fed mad bastard personality than RE fucking crying and sulking when it was his personal life apparently that was in the toilet. NJ left us twice, very sneakily first time granted but he never left us in the absolute fucking mess on the pitch we are now. I'd have him back tomorrow and if you think MB wouldn't leave if the right offer comes in you're insane. If we start doing well he'll be getting tapped up immediately, I bet it happens every day in football.

He’s once again claiming the Prem promotion. So disappointing he keeps trying to rewrite history. He can just about claim the League 1 promotion as we were top and Harford kept it going as he left it but even that was half a season. We were mid table when he left us in the Champ.

I think you need to re-listen. He doesn't say that at all. He says he built the team that eventually got to the premier league but then he wasn't there when it happened! Which bit of that a/. isn't true and b/. is claiming he won promotion when he clearly says he wasn't there!!!!!

Without him it just would not have happened. It was his team and his culture.

He transformed us and without him our frailties have become quickly apparent.

Our frailties have nothing to do with him leaving and everything to do with the pathetic ideas of Sweet and Co. Keeping a manager on that was massively failing, not investing enough in the squad and signing complete liabilities.

His teams always improve in the new year and we had players coming back, like Pelly. Rob barely changed it, as he said himself, bar the admittedly important addition of Nakamba. The further we strayed from NJ’s blueprint, the worse we got, imho.

This interview has pride before a fall written all over it.

We all know he overthinks the big games.

You might be right. There's not much difference between the two teams. But when it's like that, it's the team that wants it the most that's successful. I think Jones's personality will get Charlton over the line. Shades of a lower league Clough, as you say below.

No coincidence that since his DNA has been removed from the squad it’s all gone to shit for us

He only got us one promotion and that was by bottling the title to Accrington Stanley.

                      Well he wasn't wrong.

Just a shame that twice he decided to jump out of the juggernaut and hand the driving over to someone else.

He's a great manager for a medium sized club trying to get the most out of some pretty average players. He can definitely build a team.

However the laptop, chest thumping and need for utter devotion and buy in from the boardroom and his players doesn't work quite as well further up the pyramid. He often looked close to tears on MOTD.

I think he would have had more success in the 70's and 80's. There's something about him that reminds me of Clough and Graham Taylor.

He left us in pretty good shape both times. Not wanting to add to the self promotion but is there a better manager outside of the premier league? He definitely would have had more opportunities at bigger clubs in those era's.
