Who has earned their wages this season
Posted by Bt20 on 14/4/2025, 8:22:54
Quite remarkable to think the club has handed out multi-million pound contracts to some of these players. Who has actually earned their take home pay this season? Maybe only Kaminski and Clark.
I don't think anyone is worth £27k a week. It's sad that football has been allowed to become so bloated and that everyone just accepts it when in actual fact it's completely insane.
You can argue £27k is the going rate at this level. It's still completely insane.outlaws is not the barometer of sanity.
The club reported a £48 million profit last year. Who should get that money if not the players?
The amount of money in football from TV sponsorship is absolutely dizzying, but it's going in and it has to go somewhere. People doing the work (non playing staff and footballers) should get the bulk of this cash rather than it being sucked out by owners.
In my perfect world I would prefer to see cheaper TV subscriptions (or free games on BBC), cheaper tickets, and lower player wages, but that's not where we are. If billions are being paid into the game by advertisers then it's right that footballers benefit from that.
The cost to fans should come down and so should wages of everyone in football. We've been conditioned for decades to accept exorbitant wages within the game as something normal. But they're not normal.outlaws is not the barometer of sanity.
The going rate for this league appears to be totally unsustainable, and has been for years. Not just wages either: £6m seems to get you nothing more than an average for the level player nowadays.
Given the MO of the clubs likely to be promoted into the division next season it's going to get even more insane .....
