Anyone on here seen Luton play at Wembley on all 8* of our competitive visits there. Well done if you have. I've done 6. Missed York and not even around for Forest in '59! Feel free to correct me but our 8 visits are: Forest, Reading, Arsenal, Forest, Chelsea, York, Scunthorpe, Coventry
*Not included is that centenary league thing that was held where we played Man Utd.

Reading, Arsenal, Forest, Chelsea, Sculthorpe and Coventry, missed York as was working up here and couldn't get it off, Dad went to 59 cup final(I've put a pic of him before on here at Leighton Buzzard station on his way as a kid) he also cried the day we beat Arsenal so my mum told me.

Nothing wrong with a few tears🥲. Football is an emotional game. There were many a tear being leaked out after the Coventry game. Nice to read that so many of us had dad's attending the 59 cup final and that their sons/daughters carried on supporting Luton. Not sure that is as prevalent today. Thank you.

Yes, done them all like the glory hunter that I am, didn't bother with the EFL Centenary wankfest. Wasn't alive in 59, but my dad didn't get a ticket because of the tombola-style distribution, and he hated the club after that 'til the day he died. Still supported the team though. He stopped going in the mid 70's after the V&G fiasco, he really hated the club! My mum told me that he actually cried when we beat Arsenal, because he knew what it meant to me and my brothers. And of course to him.

If you include the centenary thing, I've done 8.
The 59 final was well before my time

Fairs! My old man wasn't even born in 59. I'll have to ask my Grandad if he went!

How did we get on in that centenary thing. Was anything to get excited about?
Re: Wembley

We lost to Man Utd first round. Wembley was probably about 40% full. I was only a kid at the time so my memory isn't the best of it. But I recall it being very flat atmosphere wise.
I believe the original idea was for all 92 clubs to enter a 6 a side team and Wembley s pitch would have been split up into small pitches over the weekend. That would have been better IMO.

Gave the centenary thing a miss too.
IIRC it was inbetween an FA Cup semi-final and a League Cup final, and about three weeks after the Simod Cup final, so it wasn't a difficult decision even without considering the finances.

It was the weekend before the Littlewoods Cup Final. That weekend, I "did the double" of seeing Luton at Wembley on the Saturday and then ran the London Marathon on the Sunday.
I was sitting in front of Tom and Zeta Johnson, Marvin's parents. Zeta said that the only way that Marvin would get a game was if someone got injured - seconds later, Mal Donaghy was injured and Marvin (who was born in Wembley) was on as a sub.

I remember hearing on the radio that Mal had been carried off and thought that was him and us doomed for the Arsenal game.
Ironically, my memory is that Marv was a master at the carried off one week, fit to play the next week routine himself
