    Rebuild for next season

Posted by Ramridge Raider on 12/4/2025, 19:15:59

Pretty clear we are going down and most probably in bottom position.

The rebuild will be huge though. Personally I would only keep Kaminski, Burke, McGuiness, Aasgard and Morris. Somehow we need to shift the deadwood that are on massive wages whilst bringing in around fifteen players.

I'm really not sure that Bloomfield is the man to oversee such a massive job.

      MB will sort it.

The bloke has been given a huge task.

Between Edwards being clueless and Sweets ego we pretty much have to start again. And we only progress if MB is left to sort it without interference.

This won't be an easy fix. It'll take a while. As you rightly said.

Putting back supporters confidence in the whole thing would make a huge difference. Get back to being us against the world. Back the manager, stop telling lies about kits, stop patronising fans with ridiculous 'no Billy Big balls' comments. Update us peasants a bit more regularly about how things are going but do it without contempt. How things going with LL? That's all gone quiet for example.

So let's start with sacking, publicly, those involved with our 'recruitment team' that won't happen though. We can all guess why.

Also, break the fuckin bank to ensure Asgaard(sp?) Stays next season.

Above all else, man up and own it all basically.

Us idiots will be there Friday. As per. Sweet, 2020, and us lot were all as one a while back. If we can get back to that, we'll be good.

Agree with all that. How many of todays squad would be up for Rotherham away on a wet Tuesday night - not many.

Big no to Morris. Hardly the player we need or the player he was. We need someone with pace.

2-3 years to rebuild the damage that’s been done, that’s if MB gets it done. Let’s hope we don’t sleep walk into another relegation by thinking we’re too good for League One.

Next year strikes me that it could be tough.

                We need a major rebuild.

Eli is out for the year and then out of contract.

We've a lot of shite we will struggle to move on due to their wages. And we've got parachute payments endings so an absolutely huge drop off in budget to play for 2026-2027.

TBH, I'm not entirely sure I trust the current recruitment team to balance that delicate task, considering how they've fucked up quite a bit the last 18 months.

Their needs to be a shake up there.

So we are League 1…. Kaminski, and Doughty will go
                Those we need to offload:
                Krul
                Adebayo
                Morris
                Burke
                Walters
                Baptiste
                Chong
                Hashioka
                Mengi
                Anderson
                Brown
                Bell
… almost too many, but a hell of a rebuild…

Shea as well. Don’t need 35 year old keepers , get in a couple with at least half chance one will come good and sold from profit.

Yep but we do have the parachute payments to keep some of our wages at an attractive level.

I'd throw money at Aasgard knowing he will go for big money in a year.

Also keep Nelson and Johnson along with Clicker and Aasgaard.
Really not bothered keeping Morris, M Guinness, or Kaminsky, or Burke.

Is a player who we need to move on.

Does anyone know if he had a two or three year deal?

His annual late season injury appears to keep him employed though, happened before he joined us too at Stoke

Hopefully the injury isn’t so serious that we have to keep him.

Not having another striker when Brown and Eli have got history for second half of the season injuries is just another utter failure from the club and the recruitment team.

Can't blame MB furithe position we're in. He's inherited a so much dross it's untrue. That said, some of his decisions appear very odd. Fir example, what is the point of having Bower on loan? He rarely plays and when he does he looks lost and useless offering nothing. And this is before I start with the forward line fiasco.

Aasgaard and Chong are similar types of players but Aasgaard is miles better, stays on his feet, and gives 100%. So why play both?

Godders, Aasgard and Chong are totally different players. Aasgard has the potential to go to the next level, quick feet, physical, good vision and a rocket shot.

Chong is not strong enough, fast enough or clever enough to forge a proper career in the English league. Fully expect him to end up at a mid level Sutch side.

Birmingham absolutely had our pants down on him.

I'm pretty sure that game was the first time NJ went 3-5-2. Worked eventually but it was woeful against Brum. Chong had 10 yards of space every time he got the ball.

I said to the next to me today that his build will be his downfall. He hasn't got any substantial muscle mass anywhere, even his legs are like pencils.

Depressing that when you think about combined wages and transfer fees, this squad has probably cost about £100m over the last two years.

We can't keep carrying on pretending everything is fine. Things need to change on and off the field.

Successive relegations is a sign of catastrophic failures on the football side.
