Indeed. The only comparable club in the past 2 seasons is Southampton who either got slightly less or a lot more depending on whether KM made a typo in his tweet or spreadsheet. All other promoted clubs don't pay any directors apart from Leicester who 'only' paid £250k. That's just to do with how they structure their business, not much can be read in to it.
The judgement is whether £1.3m is excessive, which is a matter of opinion.
The 2nd highest director was paid more in both years for finishing mid table than GS was paid in the PL out of interest.
