Onions. He’s a contender because he tries, but he’s too often not been near the box this season. Like later period James Collins, Morris is frustrating because he goes in search of the ball out wide, when he lacks the pace and technique to beat defenders if he gets it. He should be in the box to finish chances, not trying to create chances to be finished off by, well, himself, really.
I totally appreciate its chicken and egg as to why he’s been going out wide, but at nearly every game this season I’ve thought “Why isn’t someone in the box?!” when there’s a promising looking break on down the flanks. And he still does it since Doughty came back and Jones joined.
It is an extremely low bar so that is probably all it will take. He, at least, looks like he gives a shit even if his quality has fallen away dramatically
Give it to Zack Nelson and Joe Johnson for breaking through into the first team. Can't say any of the seniors deserve anything unfortunately.outlaws is not the barometer of sanity.
I posted before Christmas that player of the season could only be a January signing who had a significant impact and played a major role in us staying up. No one has identified themselves so far though. There genuinely isn’t a realistic option at present.
I think the only players you can make any sort of case for are:
- Kaminski - some excellent saves but goals conceded are above expected and too many parts of his game are below par
- Morris - leading scorer
- Clark - 4 goals from a midfield that hardly scores any. Not his fault he’s been played out of position most of the season
- Doughty - his absence showed how much we (over)rely on him. Needs to step up though
Alternatively, what about Pelly? Has he ever won it before? Maybe a way for us to say thank you, in addition to a testimonial (although I still hope he stays for next season!)."Never too high, never too low"
Agree on Joe Taylor - I was one of those who chased him and asked him to give us a sign he was the Messiah - lo and behold he immediately lost his sandal thus signalling his divinity. His Mum begged to differ and sent him to Huddersfield as punishment.
Mr J.C. Lomax having been called upon to give his opinion upon the proposed formation of a Town Club, said he was most emphatically in favour of a proposed Luton Town Football Club - 11th April 1885
