A further point of interest about Joe Taylor…

Nothing to do with his ability.

He played 46 games last season. Something the majority of our players would physically be incapable of doing.

I think the main reason there is interest in Taylor is that he clearly offers a different type of threat which could be a useful contrast to the "lump it up to big man" strategy we currently depend upon. We are also slow and shot shy - Taylor seems nippy and selfish (in a good way). At the end of the day we are shit - we are playing shit and have looked second best to virtually everyone we have played - the few positive results have been scrappy affairs - apart from Watford. Overall the bottom line is that a failing team should try new things - if it does not work out then take Taylor off after 75 minutes and put and end to it - lets be honest we would probably be losing the game whoever we start so nothing really ventured is there?

we have no one running beyond the ´big man´ so lumping it up there isnt a great strategy anyway in my view. Morris wins his fair share of flicks........to no one.

Someone willing to run in behind would seem like a decent option to me?

Wouldn't it be nice if one of the RE interviewers had the balls to just ask him why Taylor hasn't been playing.
          Any answer including;
          'We have better'
'He's not ready for this level'
' He doesn't fit into our system'
          or
          ' He's shit.
Would at least put this matter to bed.

Why? It's not an interesting question. He's not playing because he's not as good as Morris, Adebayo, Brown.

Woodrow, Nelson, Johnson, Shea, Krul also haven't played much because they are not judged to be as good as other players.

Well, yes, but lately he’s not even been in the squad (with Woodrow ahead of him) and when he has been in the squad he’s been given little chance. Morris, Brown and Adebayo have all scored in the premier league and championship. Maybe Taylor would too given similar opportunities, who knows? But Adebayo especially has not been playing well for much of this season and Brown has been unavailable for large parts of it. Feels like Taylor can and should have been given more of a chance. Which isn’t the same as saying he should start every week.

Well, fuck my old boots, you could have at least prefixed that bombshell of a revelation with a warning to sit down and perhaps have a stiff drink to hand.

                Reeling all over the place.

                Cheers, Jim

This question was asked on Twitter on BBC 3CR's feed about 6-8 weeks ago. They (can't remember if it was Doyle or Oxley) said RE's answer was that Taylor's style wasn't suited to a pressing game.

I tried looking through the Twitter site so that I could post a link but can't find the Tweet quickly I'm afraid.

They did a couple of weeks ago according to 3CR.

Apparently Edwards didn't talk much about him but talked about the other players he and the coaching staff felt were ahead of him for the way that we play.

The last time Edwards was asked about Taylor was in September, leading to this blancmange of an answer.

That's why he is not being picked then, he would embarass them
