Carrying on with the pub post.

I read 50 a week closing, can that be true?
If it’s bad now, what will it be like in 10 years time?
Pubs used to be great for local communities, after work meets, general socialising etc……

Some great looking pubs have closed in Luton over the years.
You can imagine the characters that used these pubs.
Only 40 left is a bit sad, but sign of the times maybe?

In Portsmouth it's gone from 370 pubs to 125.

Still some traditional boozers in there but most "pubs" in the UK are restaurants now in reality.

Many in my area have gone for good, usually demolished and replaced by 'affordable' rabbit hutches.

The music scene is also hard hit by pub/club closures, up and coming bands with nowhere to hone their talents, it's all food and sky sports now.

Agreed, I've switched almost totally from larger gigs to becoming a regular at some of our local music venues. They are dying on their feet in droves.

Could have something to do with modern "music" being nothing more than a cacophony of noise. 99% of bands today sound like each member is playing a different tune with a "singer" wailing like a strangled cat.

There is a lot more out there than that!

Yesterday MG and I both posted about The Men They Couldn't Hang, a great band with a great catalogue of tunes who play small venues.

You should try Bedford Esquires, The Stables or The Roadmender in Northampton

Bedford Esquires is great. And the bands they have hosted in the past is incredible really
