In Stoke's first season back in the Championship Rowett spent £50million on new players with the expectation to bounce straight back up.
Halfway through the season he was replaced by Nathan, an appointment that according to Ashley Williams a lot of the Premier League players on Stoke's books thought was pretty tinpot. Rightly or wrongly they thought he had an inferiority complex
Edwards is probably regarded as a Premier League manager by those that played for him last season and those he has signed. If we got in a young upcoming manager like Matt Bloomfield or Steven Schumacher, which tends to be our profile, how would our current squad respond?
A few seasons ago I wouldn't be worried but now I'm not so sure.

It seems there is a financial 'tipping point' developing in the top two divisions. £100-£200 M spend for PL survival in first season and £50-£100M for return after relegation. Stoke are just a basket case.
