Sweet and the board
Posted by LU2 on 10/11/2024, 10:47:52
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - Sweet and the board have to go. This post will get a lot of hate (admins, I’m watching you consider whether to remove it, as you have my previous posts) but I have been spot on in everything I said. Sweet has refused to spend money on players and from the heady heights of 18th in the Premier League we now find ourselves locked in a relegation battle in the Championship. What is going on?! We have had MILLIONS in parachute payments and other funds and won’t spend them. We have sold some of our best players for MILLIONS and haven’t brought in new players. Now, the Club is too shameless even to come out and offer yesterday’s travelling fans a refund - oh, I know why - they don’t want to spend the money! If they won’t get rid of RE and seriously change their attitude and approach then they need to go - NO ONE is bigger than this club, including Gary Sweet, and if they start to imperil the future of the club then they have to go.
I dont agree with a lot of your statement but I do agree there needs to be transparency on finances and player recruitment. Happy clapping only hoes so far
I thought there was financial transparency with the Supporters Trust. Maybe I’m wrong but as shareholders I’d think they’d have rights?

Have a word with yourself. Plus you don't get millions of parachute payments in one hit. Get a grip & remember where we were not so many years ago....

Get real mate, it's the fukin playing staff at fault the Buck starts and ends there. Some players not good enough I get that but attitudes change games.

Jesus wept. That’s the most stupid statement I’ve seen on this forum for a long time. Everyone is hurting this season but I bet no one more than GS and RE. Imperil the clubs future ffs. True they’re not above criticism and something is definitely not right but fuck me 😂😂. Great fishing 👍
Who’s overseeing the new stadium over the next 3 years, ya prick??????

Yes it’s an opinion, but just smacks of a Kneejerk reaction The Board have loads still in the bank for me.
Question, some of the millions from the Prem… would you begrudge them paying themselves and investors back, of some of the money they have pumped in since 2008( including a couple of million, just to pay off the debts of the previous chancers)???
Admin can you delete this garbage

Be careful what you wish for. When you have watching Luton since 1974 you have seen many downs, managers, boards and owners. 2020 haven’t always got things right, who has but I trust them more than some faceless overseas owner on an ego trip. We are going through a blip nothing more and when the stadium is built the club and the town will be on the up. That’s the stadium not the dome or the formula one track.

Fans demanding / clubs offering refunds for shit performances really irritates me. It’s sport, you take the good with the bad. It’s not like buying a vacuum cleaner that doesn’t work or a loaf of bread that turns out to be mouldy. If you went to the cinema and didn’t like a film would you demand that the cinema refunds you?
Agree, if you expect a refund for even the shittest away performance then maybe supporting a football club is not for you. Would you expect to be asked to pay more if the performance exceeded expectations?
When fans start asking for refunds you have to question their sanity. Yes it was awful yesterday and I 'll be honest, I left just after their 4th goal but ask for money back!! I had a good day out with friends and enjoyed the delights of Middlesbrough. Yes we want better and we should question the manager and the board but do it in a respectful way. COYH
" If you went to the cinema and didn’t like a film would you demand that the cinema refunds you?"
Fans don't go up and down the country supporting the cinema and have the opportunity to read the reviews to know what the film will be like before they watch it.
Partially agree. All opinions are welcome but some are deserving to be ridiculed.
Calling for 2020 to leave is ridiculous.

Well you are certainly frustrated. You are not alone, but perhaps go and have a pint and a Sunday lunch just to relax a bit. The emphasis on typing millions in capital letters suggests perhaps to find something to take your mind off what is happening at the club currently.
As a wise man once said "Control the controllables"
Genuine question. In the entire history of LTFC owners, do you think we have had better than 2020?
I get criticism. No one is above that. Keep the eyes peeled and all that. Fine. But some of the anti-2020 stuff that's emerging is either pathetic name-calling, paranoid rambling or trolling. Or all three
I have criticised the last 2 transfer window on here but that doesn't stop me thinking they're the best ownership/management model we've ever had
those turbo loaded “scandinavians” that 2020 turned down.

You are right you will get some stick, there is no need to be so bitter, yes we are all disappointed, but I thought personally we started off really well but once they scored the two soft goals before half time we tried to chase the game, that leaves big holes and we were punished. A lot of the games we lost we played well, I e Sunderland at home. If Rob does go he deserves all the respect from us, what Gary Sweet has achieved has been miraculous. I said a few weeks ago that Robs loyalty to some of his players would end bad for him, I personally hope he stays, we are not relegation fodder and we won’t go down.
Message said wait for the accounts..let's bear in mind it is 2020 developments...so football is a pathway to the development of land..investors invest in that..some may even of been paid back..
Even if that's true - and I don't think it is - so what?
They were the ones that took huge risks to bail us out of the shit in the late 00's so if they want to take some of that money back, I wouldn't blame them
I never said they should not be paid back..just a thought on where funds have gone..I guess here but some one forked out for power court..so maybe £30mill paid back..
