My honest opinion

We will go down on current trajectory. I think we will lose against any team in this division who are playing well at the time. We can win ugly against a team having a bad day but that is it. We have lost all cohesion as a team - no real movement or fluency - just generally aimless balls hoping for the best. This is down to terrible decisions in the transfer market both ins and outs which has really left us with no options or quality. As to RE there is still a case to keep him which is based on "who else"? When all said and done RE has at times got it right but I think he has checkmated himself with the players bought in. Right now I think we may have to spend some money in January to have a chance of staying up under any manager. So basically I think we are in big trouble - a poor squad is the root of it. If there is a better available manager then I can see the point - otherwise just get some better players in asap to at least keep us in this division

Our last win was against the form team in the division.
We've beaten a top six team, drawn with another and ran the league leaders very close.
Just pointing out that the original premise of the OP was rather shaky to say the least.

Seems inevitable that he will go before too long. We need an experienced manager to steady the ship and who isn't dominated by the board. The experiment with inexperienced managers went very well with Nathan Jones, went disastrously wrong with Graeme and is rapidly going the same way with Edwards.

The players we have are good enough if coached properly and motivated properly. Edwards can't do either at the moment. He doesn't have any belief left in the tank and that has filtered down into the moral of the players. A new focused manager that can get the best out of the players is what is required. Look at what happened when Graeme Jones left and NJ came back in. Rob Edwards is a nice person but that doesn't matter if we can't win games. We need someone who just needs to do enough to get us at least into mid table security. We can rebuild after that if necessary.

I know wages talk, if we offer above what is on offer the players may sign. But who, realistically, is going to sign into a club in a relegation battle that is a better player than we already have? The board appear to have great morals re wage structures and transfer fees, but what use are great morals in Division 1, we might have to break the mould to remain a competetive Championship club.

The players bought in may not have been the players he wanted.
