Post match thoughts

First half was a very poor game of football.
Second half I thought we took control and looked a lot better.
Bell being back makes such a difference. His recovery pace and composure on the ball is a bit part of how we play. McGuiness looked solid and Mengi too. Could be the beginnings of a very decent back three.
Hashi looked good at rwb. Not overly quick or fancy but he didn't get beaten often and did the basics well.
Doughty was superb in the second half. Madness to send him back on though.
Adebayo was a menace. Touch of Enoch about him at times tonight, but he got us up the pitch well.
Lino was awful, no way Morris was offside when played through. Morris did well considering he spent the whole game being manhandled.
Krauss is a very good player, him and Baptiste when fit is a very good midfield. If Nakamba ever recovers to be able to play more than 15 minutes he has a lot to offer as well.
Keep that second half performance up and I think we will get a nice comfy mid table position locked in soon, which is where we'll end up this season imo.
All in all a good evening

My only word of criticism is that more than once when Eli was through you knew he wasn’t going to go on and have a shot.
Enoch was a player who would score all sorts of goals, Eli is rather one dimensional and managed to miss a great headed chance.
I think if Taylor had been on and come off the bench he would have converted at least one those.
Will be interesting to hear from RE why Taylor wasn’t in the squad as I think those through balls from Krauss and Baptiste would play to his strengths.
Enoch was a very important player for us, yes it was a long time ago but I genuinely thought his ratio was higher but forgot he played many games out of his best position.
That said Enoch was faster running with the ball than Eli and that was the point I was making.
Had Enoch had the space to run into that Eli did I suspect he would have got a shot away.
We need more goals scored.
Enoch also scored from Free Kicks, Brentford at home rings a bell.
He did, and I agree that probably isn't the best example. But don't forget Enoch played a number of games in midfield and out wide so its not necessarily a fair comparison.
The point, as also made by Godders below, was specifically around pace and taking opportunities when put through.
Enoch was a powerful runner with the ball at his feet too.
If Eli had taken that header we wouldn't be having this conversation, but in both the case of Morris and Eli neither will foot races with Championship defenders, Brown and particularly Taylor have a better chance.
Hence not having a Taylor option from the bench in favour of Woodrow (or Pelly or Walsh) does bring us back to the one dimensional point.
If Baptiste and Krauss make this incisive passes you want someone on the end of them who can take advantage.

So it's going to be all about Taylor now from you now is it? A new obsession for you to bore the shit out of the board with?
You easily switch from one routine to another, but they're never supportive.
The Championship is a huge step up from League 1 and league 2. In the cameos that Taylor has played this season, I've thought he looks a little out of his depth.
A good, raw prospect but not someone I would play before Morris, Brown or Adebayo. It's a toss of a coin between him and Woodrow. Woodrow has the experience and track record of scoring goals in the Championship so probably edges it.
How many times has Woodrow actually influenced a game starting or coming off the bench, very few if any. Taylor obviously has a goal threat as his recent record at lower leagues proves. If we were chasing game I think the likelihood of Taylor scoring over Woodrow is greater.
From what I've seen Adebayo is very disappointing. A great turn on the halfway line but no pace, and not skilful enough to be able to get a shot away. He also is useless at heading for such a big lad. I'm rapidly running out of patience with him. I'm glad RE dropped him and Brown scored. But I'd have Taylor above Adebayo just to give him a run out.
He made a massive difference when he came on yesterday.
He isn't Steve Howard in the air, but he is a handful for defenders.
He is a lot quicker without the ball than with it, and to be honest I think he is quite skilful but in an Enoch say where no one, including him, really knows what he's going to do.
I don't think Taylor has the impact Adebayo had last night.
I thought Brown looked good as well yesterday - certainly good to have them both able to rotate
When Eli went through after the turn on the halfway line he never really had it set up for a proper go at it. I don't think Taylor gets us up the pitch as well as Adebayo did
Bell is probably the most underrated player in the squad. Hashi, hmmmmm. Not for me. Doughty was superb. If he's out long term that's on RE. It smacked of the bottle job sending Elijah on at Huddersfield. Nakamba, doubt he'll he the player he was. He looks very slow. Decent result. I'm alot more optimistic about Saturday than I was a few hours ago.
Hashi not for you? Explain… 3 games in his proper position, and made hardly any mistakes tonight Why is everyone slagging off Nakamba all of a sudden? Came on and kept it very simple…
My moan is against Adeybayo does not challenge enough in the air, stands off all the time, and is always looking down at his feet.
