But politics is not long term it is four or five year cycles. You have to adapt and live with how things are and nothing we can influence.

But that's a completely shit way of looking at things. Politics needs to be longer term for longer joined up thinking. No wonder long term projects get lack of focus and things spiral out of control - the disastrous HS2 for example, no one really grappling at it because its too long term and becomes someone else's problem. Look also at town planning, waste a d sewerage issues, healthcare, education, etc. you name it and it needs a long term strategy to fix what persistent governments have neglected pushing it down the line to be someone else's problem knowing after 4 or 5 years it won't personally be their problem. It's why this country has turned to shit. Too much short term quick fixes to paint over the cracks that appeal to the gullible.
