I’d be more worried by the fact that investment in education should lead to less thick people. And as there is now a proven link between a lower IQ meaning an individual is more likely to vote Tory/Reform/Brexit if I were you I’d be very worried.

Average wage in UK has risen by 33% since last time tuition fees were increased (2016).
Given that this is a 2.7% increase, id call it a very small, insignificant rise.
It is £250, whereas the earner is set to take home £14k per annum more compared to when figure last set.

Would you not increase the fees so unis, a lot of which are struggling already, could potentially go bust?
Add to further borrowing to cover the shortfall?

Some of the Unis could lower their top level wages for a start . . .
And I do think the student loans should not be set at an interest in excess of commercial loans, that is just plain wrong.

Totally agree …I appreciate not everyone pays but how is it good value when the average amount of lectures is @ 10 hours p/w. I feel many courses could be reduced to two years ….

I thought that (two years) but the amount of reading and self study my daughter had to do kind of set me right on that.
I'm not sure that's always the case but she was genuinely working very hard.

Yes, I seem to recall I did fourteen hours lectures a week back in the day and I would say I worked on average about 25 hours. She was doing double that on average I'm sure.
And even places like Cambridge are paying PHD students near minimum wage to provide some of the tutorial support. That's just awful.

My son owes about 54k in uni loans not sure he will ever pay it off on his teaching salary
