It is a £250 rise (2.7%) given that inflation has run at over 20% at time since they were last increased, I'd call that a small rise.

Pretty sure no one is not going to go to university based on a far below inflation rise in fees.

It was something N Farage started about policing. His tiers are that if you are white British you are more harshly treated by the police than if non white.

This despite the facts that people from minority ethnic backgrounds are more likely to be sent to prison and to serve longer sentences than other groups.

For example, Black people and people with a mixed ethnic background serve a greater proportion of their sentence in custody than white people.

72% of the population is white British. However they only make up 63% of the prison population.

So there is a two-tier policing system- just its the reverse of what Nigel etc make out.

Yeah I’m aware of that usage, and I thought people were now using it in relation to the thick dangers trying to burn down hotels full of people, but now it seems to include tax dodging farmers like Clarkson and students and the generationally wealthy. Very confusing.

Those that have been “served punishment so quickly” were charged and pleaded guilty.

The CPS is still weighing up the evidence in the case of the Manchester Airport assaults and it is further complicated by an investigation by tue IOPC.

The sentences were harsh as a specific deterrent to handle a potentially ongoing situation that might have escalated into even worse violence as well you must know.

Compared to what Just Stop Oil protestors have faced it's actually not that bad if care to investigate.

What part of the law or sentencing guidelines does it say you can issue sterner sentences to deter others?

Surely you and the public would want sentencing on the crime committed to be fair and transparent ?

I tend to agree but I think if it was your road being torn up like that you'd want something done sharpish. There are two sides to it.

Pretending it's something that's specific to this particular set of people is a bit daft though, it's been going on with relation to football for years.
