A week is indeed a long time in football.
Last Sunday morning there were lots of new-names saying that Trollope was the problem!

So everything is now ok coz we scraped a draw against a team who were equally as poor as we were on the day.
This coming week will define our season, one way or other.

No, but we've played three top six teams at home in our last four games and been the better team in each of the games and arguably deserved more than the four points we got.
Admittedly Coventry was as bad as anything prior, although we got two good goals, but things are definitely looking better than they were.

Thank god that Bournemouth are not in our league this season. I couldn’t face another 4:3 away defeat. I feel sorry for anyone who travelled to the game.

I did, and at halftime I did not feel confident and the only thing that really changed in the second half was that Bournemouth started shooting straight.

He has a decent CV, experienced promotion to Prem as a coach a couple of times now. But I don’t think we are going to let Edwards go - and not before Xmas. Club will wait to see how we go when hopefully the defence is through the injury crisis. With Bell, Mengi, McGuiness, Holmes, Burke to choose from we should be fine. As long as we are not in the relegation zone in mid Jan ,Edwards will be here

Not saying let edwards go just give him time away for a bit. You can see he is struggling mentally. He is obviously very sensitive and an emotional guy. More looking out for his welfare. There's a decent manager within him but bad luck has cost us and he is still learning. Don't think trollope would be phased with the situation.
Re: Trollope
Posted by Frog Hatter on 3/11/2024, 12:18:55, in reply to "Re: Trollope "
If he goes because he mentally can’t cope - how will the players trust him to be around in future dips. He either has to see it through or leave, get a good break and start his career elsewhere
Re: Trollope
Posted by Hatsworth2nd on 3/11/2024, 12:26:08, in reply to "Re: Trollope "
Like I said there's a good manager somewhere in him but giving him a 4 year deal was suicidal. Unless the club pay him off he is still one of us. There all his signings pretty much now so those players should have some sort of respect for him.
Hmm reallly

Yea but who says he's mentaly not right.
Just more ignorant no nothing speculation by idiots.

The Sheffield Wednesday game was a prime example. Sitting down all game because he took offence to the Kenilworth end moaning about the defence playing the ball out from goal kicks. His body language is that of someone who is struggling and he looks pale and stressed.

I'm being serious! Edwards is washed out, has been all season. Trollope has many years experience and is a perfect fit to step in.

Some players play for a certain manager. What's to say trollope wouldn't start woodrow and taylor like nathan jones would do to mix it up. Noone should be guaranteed a starting place.

Look at Alfie doughty for example all set pieces down to him before friday. Surely there must be other quality in the side to take a corner/free kick. No wonder doughty was shattered towards the end of last season with no realm competition for his place once we loaned out giles. These are all basics.

I don't so much mind Alfie taking them all, but please can we see a little variation instead of the usual ball floated into the goalmouth.

It's like when other managers/scouts come to watch luton before they play us.
Notes: Doughty takes all set pieces

The best thing they can do in when the transfer window opens is resign james bree. Right footed and can take a corner/set pieces, potential to be club captain and knows the club inside out. Can play in defence and midfield and only 26 years old.

Is he free then and can we afford him plus wages...I rest my caase
Re: Trollope
Posted by Hatsworth2nd on 3/11/2024, 13:13:21, in reply to "Re: Trollope "
No not free but we could afford him now and I'm sure he doesn't want to be sitting on the bench at that age! Wasted... If we are paying 10 million for tugboat then I'm sure few million on bree is no problem.
Re: Trollope
Posted by HuN on 3/11/2024, 13:16:56, in reply to "Re: Trollope "
Not that I dislike Bree, but I think much of his Southampton career has involved sitting on the bench collecting a decent wage, and will be quite happy to continue doing so . . . with the occasional Premier League appearance.
