    Booing Substitutions

    Crazy

He got it right and both Walsh and Baptiste made a big impact.

Krauss played well but we needed more creativity.

Not a good look but it was mad that Clark stayed on the pitch over Krauss.

It isn't sensible to have players on for 90 minutes every game. Home on Wednesday, away next Saturday. Got to rotate the team, even if it is difficult due to unavailable players.

It wasnt done to rotate. And anyway Clark never gets subbed.

Bringing Walsh on was a good decision. Taking Krauss off, less so

Might have worked even better with our best midfielder AND Walsh on the pitch

Posted by RM on 2/11/2024, 12:12:48, in reply to "Re: Booing Substitutions"

Maybe, Walsh looked really comfortable, but would he have got the same space had Krauss been along side him, we will never know, but I suspect they both might have wanted to be on the ball in the same area's.
You would ask one of them to play another role, would they have been as effective? We will never know.

Posted by Music Critic on 2/11/2024, 12:19:13, in reply to "Re: Booing Substitutions"

Krauss was playing deeper than Walsh ended up doing so I don't think they'd have got in each other's way. Maybe, tactically, Edwards might have thought we need to lose a defensive midfielder but Krauss can also play in a more advanced position

I'm not having a dig at Clark like some are but it seemed he was the obvious choice to come off rather than Krauss

It worked, to an extent, but taking our best player off (at the time) doesn't make much sense

Opinions, as you say hardly controversial!

                            Indeed

Either way, it was good to see Walsh come on and impact the game. Midfield is where we've struggled this season and if he steps up and Baptiste actually plays some football then results will probably turn for the (far) better

I've been critical of Edwards but he got most things right in the 2nd half last night (except Krauss!). But we really should have put a very poor WBA away

Come on you can't have it every way.

The manager makes decisions, when they don't work you criticise him, when they do, it might just be a tad reasonable to say "Hey he got that one right, fair play".

Posted by Music Critic on 2/11/2024, 12:13:17, in reply to "Re: Booing Substitutions"

I don't know what you mean. I've given him credit for bringing Walsh on but also questioned him taking our best player off. What's wrong with that?

All I'm saying is, yes it worked, but I think it would have worked better if we'd kept our best player on. Dunno why that's so controversial

I thought it was the right call, Krauss is excellent as a defensive midfielder, but we needed players on the pitch that could open up a very deep defending opposition.

To unlock defences sitting deep, you need good passers of the ball

Krauß is probably our best passer of the ball

Krauss was our best player, to leave on Clark and take him off was mental and was rightly booed. Clark has been awful since his injury and last night he was terrible again, he bottled a challenge in the 2nd half that should of been his last action.

There is no way Clark “has been awful” nor was he terrible last night.
