Positives. Thought Chong deserved his goal for his energy and attacking runs. We also looked more solid in defence not that West Brom threatened much. Plus we went through a game without injuries, I hope. Negatives: Can’t quite understand Clark’s roll. Again he is far too deep in a position that doesn’t play to his strengths. He was marking Maja for their goal for some reason and was duly nutmeged.
We missed Doughty today. West Brom looked fairly average and we didn’t test them enough.
Thought we should have gone for the win today especially when West Brom tired at the end. Bringing Brown on meant that Taylor wouldn’t be given a chance and I think the longer Edward’s ignores him the more difficult it will be for him to make any impact. Thought he might have been ideal later in the game when West Brom tired.
On the whole a well deserved point is a small step forward. Hopefully with signs that our defensives woes might soon be over we can now concentrate on the attacking part of our game. Would like to see Clark rested for Cardiff, with Nakamba playing the defensive midfield role and Baptiste and Krause completing the midfield. No idea why Nakamba isn’t being used as much of late.
Clever little flick by Maja to be fair, but he shouldn’t be the closest defender to West Brom only offensive threat. The slow motion replay didn’t make good watching. However satisfied with the point, especially after the Coventry capitulation.
The replay makes shocking viewing Two players going for the same ball (as happened on numerous occasions during the game) and then not getting close enough to their man and allowing the shot. It was a nothing ball just flung into the box; complete hit and hope, and our defence self-destructs.
But yes, it's a welcome point but WBA were there for the taking.
