What a fucking surprise….
Planned strikes by RMT staff on the London Underground have been called off following talks over pay between the union and Transport for London.
Workers were also set to take action on several days in the coming weeks but a union spokesperson said it had received "a significantly improved offer".

Of course tube drivers are worth every penny of the Ł70,000 basic, rising to Ł90,000 with nasty extras like working 5 days a week and having only hourly breaks. It must take years to learn the complicated routes, especially with the lines being different colours every few miles…

Well that's just guesswork and not exactly backed up by what actually tends to happen.
Far better though apparently to continue pretending it's okay to end up with these disputes and to have health, transport and significant parts of our infrastructure in complete chaos because we won't face up to do what's necessary to manage it.

No, it isn't. In some cases people have spent many years being effectively paid less and less and in a lot of cases, eg the NHS it really doesn't add to inflation.
We have been living in complete denial paying millions for helicopters, billions for consultants and believing that the scam of privatisation has been anything but a way to syphon off tax money.
We don't have all those vacancies in the NHS for no reason, nurses had never been on strike before. The gap between rich and poor hasn't been as big, at least not in our lifetimes.
It's lunacy to think that could go on.
