    On This Day - 1978

Brian Stein leaves Graham Whittle in a spin during the 2-1 win over Wrexham. The Town fail to make the most of their chances and end up hanging on at the close of the game as lively Wrexham fight back. The Hatters go two goals up through a Stein header and a 20-yard shot from Fuccillo, but Mike Thomas scores for the Welshmen with a swirling, angled drive.

13 year old me would've been in the Oak Road that day, as always. Great photo!

On this day 7 years ago we stood on the open terrace at Accrington Stanley in biblical rain. If anyone had said then that just a few years later we'd be in the PL with the likes Of Barkley and Townsend plating for us, they'd have been locked up in a looney bin.

Bob Hatton a folkhero in football and how he rated Brian Stein. A good judge I'd say.
