Why is this question asked by someone before every game?
Serious question. I can't think why it matters. Unless there is the risk of selling out of course.

          I never ask it . . .

But I am interested to know how our support is holding up.

Went to a League Cup tie at Wednesday in the 80s and that wasn't far off

                  Snap.

                  Was Mickey Droy playing?

                  Remember going by coach 83/84.

                    It was 1984/85.

Yes, Droy was playing. The referee (Tom Fitzharris*) somehow couldn't tell the difference between Droy and Brian Stein when issuing a booking.

*one of those refereeing performances that you always remember - Michael Bidmead v Cardiff, John Martin v Everton, Roger Furnandiz v QPR etc.

You're testing my ancient memory now, lost 4-2, 3 of theirs were penalties, more coppers than supporters in the away end

I was with a group of Luton fans sitting at the back of their main stand.

Can’t remember the score if I’m honest.

I know we lost. Sounds about right though.

Yes - 4-2. Andy Blair hat trick of penalties and Brian Marwood (who later worked for 3CR on football programmes) for them with two late Steve Elliott consolation goals for us.

Seems like an eternity ago now.

I was 17 and went on a bobbers coach ( probably 2 ) and that game has stuck in my head for some bizarre reason.

I was on there as well.

If we hadn't had that game I had been selected to compete in a "Sporting Brain of Bedfordshire" competition that night at the County Hotel in Bedford, organised by the Beds Times. One of the people that I was going to be up against was a man from Cranfield who had been on BBC Radio's Brain of Sport programme and had a much wider range of sports knowledge than I had/have - he seemed to be an expert on all sports whereas I have no interest in American sports, rugby etc. That game probably saved me from a complete embarrassment.

I was there. Andy Blair (father of the scorer of that York offside goal) scored a hat trick of penalties.
