Glad somebody put that simulated radio commentary to a video.

Quite simply the best goal I have ever seen.
The simulated radio commentary doesn't in any way do it justice.
The weather was awful, the pitch was a bog, with big muddy puddles down the middle.
French shimmied past two Mansfield players just outside his area, then had to beat two players near the halfway line. He sent the first one
sprawling, then had to round the second one, but by this time the other defender had recovered his footing and lunged at French
in an attempted rugby tap tackle. French staggered for a few paces, and nearly fell, but then regained his balance and dribbled on
to beat the goalkeeper at the end of his run.
He covered about 100 yards, beating five opponents (one of them twice), and all of this in conditions which would have caused any professional game
        to be called off today.
        Sheer genius.

Could probably have filled the stadium 12 times over with the amount of people who claim they were there and witnessed it.

Which is a bizarre thing. Why do people claim to have been at something they weren't at?

the ones that were at that game will know what Bruce Rioch did that day.

He got sent off. I was 19 years old and in The Oak. I was one of the 38109 in attendance.

it was a left hook under the post at the Oak road end, i was also in the oak road, but you may want to revisit the attendance numbers as that must be incorrect.

I think that it was a reference to the number of people who claim to have been there.

I was there, in the Oak Road, my dad in the main stand. The atmosphere, already hostile from the beginning, exploded after Rioch's early sending off and French's goal took the roof off.
