If it looks like Trump will win, a load will be needed to redo the bathroom suites in the White House. After the immigrants eat pets comment, maybe not.

It’s had a fantastic and does well when markets are volatile ( which they could well be if interest rate cuts don’t happen at the levels expected). If you do invest would recommend buying an etf which is hedged so you take away the risk of the dollar moving the wrong way. I buy the wisdomtree one which does the job.

It depends. As an investment, it's price is determined by supply/demand but also because it's seen as a reliable store of value in uncertain economic times, and inflation is rising. So do you want to invest in gold to make positive returns? If so I'm sure someone on here can recommend where to get decent advice. Do you think we're about to face volatile economic conditions? Maybe. War in Ukraine and Gaza might escalate threatening the price of oil. And if ol' Trumpy gets in to the White House that might cause a few global issues. Is inflation going to rise? This ties in to the oil supply issues but also food prices. But the new government seem to be keeping a lid on inflation for the time being. And it looks like they won't be splurging in the autumn budget.

A 2024 sov with Charlie's head on it will set you back about £450, according to an ad I saw recently. Not so many years ago sovs were worth around £350. There is something quite satisfying about handling bullion coin.
