It's a good job you guys weren't so willing to have the wool pulled over your eyes back in the Gurney and Jayten days.

Forza 2020. Forza comforting sweet little lies.

Then why are so many willing to just accept the official club statement on the flag situation?

Gary Sweet shouldn't pin it on a junior member of staff and pretend that he didn't know what was going on when it kicked off on social media before the match even began thanks to Henry Winter's tweet.

The fact it was unrolled during the game and then he didn't step in to stop it getting rolled up for a second time shows his priorities were with appeasing The FA representatives there, because as the statement also says they want to continue their relationship and host future FA games.

If that's the way you want to interpret it, fill your boots. You won't change anything

Most of us don't have an agenda against GS, or 2020. We quite like what's happened since they took over, and having a new ground on the way

A few people do, including it seems you.

One question though, why do you cite 'a junior member of staff'? No mention of that in the release.

What more do you want. The supporters clubs have made their feelings known. The club have acknowledged there was a fuc up. Our stance has been reinforced and at the same time the supporters have showed their solidarity over the flag and more importantly have got the fire back in their bellies over being disrespected in our ground.

Well done to LLSC for getting a statement out of the club.

Would hope that whoever made that decision, and whoever it was supposed to please, won’t make that mistake or request again as it’s clearly massively backfired and only drawn more attention to its message.

I’m not normally arsed about things like this, but the sight of it folded over was shameful.

I expect them to take some responsibility and actually hold their hands up and accept they made an error of judgement and not try to pass it onto another member of staff and pretending it was all out of their control.

They clearly felt it was acceptable to be rolled up and misjudged the anger it would cause amongst the fanbase. Apologies are empty if they aren’t owned.

But the club's statement doesn't make sense once you consider that Gary and the board were there.

One junior member of staff folds it up, and Gary and co sit in the directors box with blinkers on all game and don't notice? Or they do notice but don't do anything about it?

Is 'junior member of staff' another one of those things you're going to repeat so often that it becomes a fact in your mind?

                        You do that a lot.

Surely it’s better if it’s a “Junior member of staff” as that suggests Gary et al didn’t know what was going on . Surely it would be worse if it was a senior member…

Hello mate, I think the point is that the statement is essentially by Gary, so the staff member is by default more junior?

Re: Are we all pretending Gary Sweet wasn't there last night then?

Nice swerve away from the point. You do that a lot.

The fact it was someone who 'didn’t appreciate the true significance of the action' and was on flag unfurling duties makes me think it was a junior member of staff.

Happy to be wrong but it doesn't really change anything with regards to the fact Gary and the board were there and did nothing.

I read it differently and think it was possibly someone given responsibility for managing the situation with the FA on the night.

Not a 'junior' as that's not in the message.

Agree it's odd it wasn't actioned on after alerts were raised but then again I'm not the one dealing with what was essentially a business arrangement

My question is, why are you and the other usual suspects so keen on beating the club and supporters groups up at every opportunity?

DD has presented a very reasonable response and he's someone I can and do respect because I know he has the clubs (and the towns, and the fans) interests at heart.

Don't see that with you or the other 'usual suspects'

Re: Are we all pretending Gary Sweet wasn't there last night then?

Am I 'beating' the supporters groups?

LL have been very efficient. I posted last night that I doubted there would be much from the Trust but I've been pleasantly surprised by their response. They've also replied to my emails quickly.

Surely someone responsible for dealing with the FA on the night would've been briefed by the club that the flag was not to be touched, especially after an initial request was denied? I get mistakes or miscommunication happen but if the club were as adamant as they say that the flag was to be left alone I find it surprising a person dealing with the FA on the night wouldn't be aware.

To be honest, to me, it seems like another example of a club that is losing touch with its supporter base.

I would hate to be as negative a person as you come across.

You hardly ever post anything positive and rush an argument to the point of making yourself look foolish, which you obviously not.
Why not try to enjoy being a Luton supporter?
We have a lot going for us right now.

Well said comrade DD. More interested in what people who actually did something about it (and always do) have to say about it than some perpetually whinging wankers on here who always want to slag the club and the supporters groups - but do absolutely fuck all themselves.

Three things stand out for me

                            1) the hanging out of a member of staff. That really is poor. Why even mention them?

                            2) clearly senior members of club were present and only thought it a problem once Henry Winter shared it online.

                            3) the word relic.

My personal opinion is that the board want to move on from the days of protest and singing songs about the FA.

Trouble is if you forget where you come from you might never find your way home again…
