              It’s actually ok .
We can sit watching Labour fuck up saying “told you so” which is what Labour have been doing the last 14 years.
Doing nothing is so much easier ….which is why Labour are experts at it….
The potential changes to labour laws and unions , along with the Autumn budget will show us how they are going to govern.
The NHS doesn’t work in its current format and whilst Starmer wants to blame the Tories he will find out it’s not sustainable and it won’t get a great deal better without radical changes.

Not at all - I think democracy is fantastic and allows those who work hard , think smart , often go without early in there career , plan a family when they can afford it are to be admired.

Many of those will also contribute much more to the countries economy than others who have chosen a different path .

Many top earners pay over 50% tax which imo is enough.

“Many top earners pay 50% tax”?

                    Maybe you should ask outsider.

Most top earners pay less % wise than low earners who don’t forget, WORK BLOODY HARD.

Only PAYE top earners pay high tax.

What others on a different path do you post about?

I don’t need to ask Outsider.
If you earn say £500k then with ni contributions you will pay just under 50%. You then pay vat on a new car , stamp duty on a house purchase, vat on utility bills , vat on restaurants etc etc .
In addition if you invest in an asset from your income ( which you have paid 50% on already you then pay capital gains tax .
God help you if you die …
So yes tax for the highest paid is way above 50%.
No idea what your last sentence means .

If you earn £500k you'reotr than able to pay those taxes
As Starmer rightly says those who have the broadest shoulders should pay their fair amount and not try and cream it off to off-shore accounts to avoid paying tax.

Posted by The Questioner on 8/9/2024, 22:06:32, in reply to "Re: Political football"

And as for Starmers comment maybe he needs reminding that 5% of tax payers pay 40% of the tax revenue….how big does he want those shoulders to be?
Many have a tipping point….push to much and they will leave …then you get 50% of fuck all…leaving those least well off having to pay more tax.

                            5% pay 40% of tax ( your figures )

What does that tell you about the growing inequality scam infesting our society.

As for that leaving bollox used by toerags. Let the Feck off.

Ahh so you would like everyone to earn the same and pay the same amount of tax. That’s called Communism and it doesn’t work.

You last sentence demonstrates the stupidity of that thought process ( but said a lot ) . If they feck off then you will have to pick up the slack and pay more tax….and to call them crooks is ridiculous.

Labour were making positive policy suggestions regularly which the Tories always decried and then on occasion later tried to implement themselves, normally making a complete pig's ear of it.

                      Example: The windfall tax.

Many of us backed Johnson to take us out of the EU.
He did so, and then the Tories spent five years of internal war, back-stabbing and plotting, totally fucking up Brexit; to the point where we'd have been better off staying in.
As a socialist it took a lot to vote for them. Never again.
