Yep. Too young to go when it was at its peak. By the time I was going mid 90s it was a dodgy place. The fun mainly had gone and it was all about the gangs from various parts of Manchester.
Still had some good nights but had to have your wits about you after.
We ended up venturing to Wigan Pier more tbh.

Mates of mine talk of the early 90s days at Hacienda and say it was something special.

No, it was over by then.

It had a dodgy edge from the start to be honest - Wilson and co very naive and easy pickings for crooks and gangs, who got an early 'in' - drugs culture inevitably leads straight to that - and grew and grew their influence until killing the place off

There's this romanticised version of it which bears little resemblance to reality

Think that what killed it eventually tbh.
No one spent any money in there!!
Wilson made a huge difference with his enthusiasm but like you say, he was a soft touch.

Saw DJ Mike Pickering on the train home from Man. City cup game last season.

            👍👍.

Not sure what the club scene is like these days, but reckon that my generation had the best of it.
Read somewhere that clubs are shutting, up and down the country, that is shocking.

Too early for me but the early days was a really good vibe. Still get plenty of old heads on dance floors who get it.

Went, but unfortunately not in '88 or '89.
