According to luton page on Facebook the Cardiff manager has come out and said they have received a serious offer that near enough meets the valuation and discussions are taking place.

10 million is far too much for an average championship centre back. That kind of money can buy a better quality player.

Someone else will pay the 10 million.
Think you just have to pay it if you really want that player.
All these loans don't really help us in the long run.

That's exactly it. If we don't, someone else like Leeds or Sunderland will. So e need to make ay offer really attractive if we're not prepared to stump up the £10m (which I personally think is a bit of a piss take but is probably the going rate for a proven-at-this-level, or oven-ready, player)

There's also a potential sell on after us if he proves his worth in the next few years.

Exactly. Plenty of potential negotiation bait, such as gaining an international cap, or a lump sum if we get promoted, or more based on appearances etc.

See my post below. I don't see why we couldn't offer about £6m upfront with the rest, plus maybe even more, with add ons.

                          Others interested apparently.
This is where we need to be bold and make a statement if we are serious about returning to the premiership.

Yeah he is only 23 and we certainly need to sort the defence out. Its a shambles.
Even if we don't beat pompey Saturday a clean sheet would give everyone a lift!
Also I would bring James bree back too.

Personally I can't see us beating Pompey. I expect us to take the lead in the first half then succumb to their second half pressure and draw 1-1. You heard it here first etc.

Not worth 10m. The most we paid last season
when we splashing cash was 5m. Is McGuiness
twice as good in his position than the others
we purchased. Given also defenders tend to go
for less no chance is he worth that. We were
rumoured to have paid around 2m for Teden Mengi
there is no chance he is 5 times better than him.
They want this sale and they have been canny to
drive up the interest to fund the players
they still want in. Move on I say.

We might have paid £2m for Mengi, but he would be worth 10 times that now.

In which case £7m to £10m might be a fair price for McGuiness, not that I know him.

Total agree, Mengi way ahead of him, get someone else , personally our central midfield is more of a concern, need 2 there and 1 decent centre half, the centre of midfield is not protecting the defence, so easy to open us at the moment, so much space in the middle of the field.
