F70 Leighton Buzzard bus after evening games

Posted by Earls on 14/8/2024, 15:24:44

Does anyone - maybe North London Hatter? - know what’s happening for the F70 bus back to Leighton Buzzard for evening games this season, please?
I left the Kenny End on the f-t whistle, got to the Clifton Road busway about 10.05pm, and there weren’t any LB buses.
Fwiw, I’d be happy to ask Arriva if anyone knows who to contact there about the service?

It turned up stupidly early. I'm in the Oak Road end and it had pulled up already as I left the ground.

So ended up running, squeezed behind the bus shelter and pushed to the front of the queue and was the last one he let on.

Full of people getting off on stops on the busway who could of got any other bus, you try to explain that is it your only bus home and people just don't care.

Ways Arriva could try to make it not such a bun fight.

      A. Make the first stop for the F70 Dunstable Town Centre. That solves the issue (assuming they don't send the bus down the busway too early like Monday.

      B. Send an A and Z and the F70 up the bus way in that order. Then the bulk of the impatient people have got on to the first two buses.

And in terms of timing no idea why the driver couldn't just be parked up at the Interchange listening to BBC3CR and just roll up the bus way 10/15minutes after final whistle. After all the F70 isn't scheduled so there is no set timetable for it to keep.

Did you have a ticket already or did you get a free ride?

Offered my £2, driver wasn't interested. Guess only need another dozens or so more free rides to cover the taxi back from the last night game the LB bus didn't turn up at all for.

Totally agree there are some selfish cocktips who really don’t need to get the F70.
In the driver’s defence for Monday, frustrating as it was, I’d guess he did have a timetable to stick to - last season it was 10pm after 7.45 kick-offs, but 10.30pm after 8pm games. Sounds like Arriva got confused.

Just people wanting to get home after a torrid night. Because the game was so bad a lot of people bailed out early which meant there was a hell of a lot of people on the platform with the two previous busses leaving full.

And it takes so fucking long to load the bus which just racks up the tension in the queue.

Gary Sweet needs to own this one for not opening the cheque-book..

Same as Buzzard,we gave up on getting the bus for midweek games, everyone has to get home but it was a right pisser when we only have the choice one bus but others could get on any of them coming along the bus way, then they get off one or two stops later when the bloody thing is still on the busway.

The bus company should make it that it doesn't stop until it gets to LB.

          sorry to read this.

We gave up on that bus on week days. Because of the Dunstable based also using it there was never a guarantee of getting on it.

Which begs the question,,,,, why has the bus company not seen this opportunity ?

They did, once North London Hatter organised it. It’s always rammed.
But it seems like it left too early for fans trudging away from the ground from the opposite side of KR from the busway to make it. (10pm exactly for an 8pm kick-off is v tight, I’d thought it was 10.30pm. Yes, this IS fascinating.)

Yeah, they don’t help, but it calmed down so that in the past year or so sharp elbows meant you could usually get on.
