Power Court had no funding in place until May last year and that will undoubtedly be the main beneficiary of our brief stay in the PL. No mention now of the rising cost of materials, Brexit, Covid or indeed new signings.
Just not true. Please read read GS's programme notes and keep up to date. The stadium was funded but capacity at 17.5k and the kitting out was limited to the Main Stand and the extras would have been phased in after the stadium was built. Now we the money to increase capacity to 25k and all 4 sides of the ground will be fully kitted out with bars and other facilities. Plus the river will now be moved.
Other than the funding that came from Newlands which provided a lot of it? The rest..well there were plans i believe, but a windfall means they werent needed. Its like getting an affordable mortgage then winning the lottery. Plans were in place but better plans come up.
And yes football clubs, building projects and even car repairs are not immune to global situations. You forgot Ukraine as well..
It’s bit like trying to compete in the PL with a lower championship budget. The finances for power court have been in place to complete the project, until now perhaps. The trade off though is RE budget limitations.
I wouldnt even say our budget is that limited. We could probably spend 20 million on players. It doesnt mean we should. Especially at over the odds prices.
We want to go back up, but no sense risking the club on it. This league and the one below it are littered with clubs that have done that.
And yes we bought players last year that were solid championship players, who could become premier league players.
Coudl do with filling the osho and barklay sized gap though
