    They Can't Be Surprised

We have been awful since the New Year. Conceding a huge amount of goals.
We have had injury after injury, then lost our best two midfielders.
Injury prone players tend to remain injury prone season after season. So it needs to be expected and planned for.
Any manager would surely say we need additional quality cover. Experienced defenders, midfielders that can hold the ball and pick a pass. A leader on the field.
Instead we have thrown kids in. Completely out of their depth.
We could all see they were not ready during pre-season. So why wasn't it sorted?
Last season was the same. Bringing in loads of injury prone players and suddenly expect them to play forty games is absolute madness.
You can't keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.

Who were all these injury prone players we brought in last season?

        Nakamba
        Mengi
        Barkley had, had some issues
Off the top of my head - not sure about Browns history

        Before last season:
        Doughty
        Morris
        Burke

        This season:
        Baptiste

That's just players still at the club that I can think of off the top of my head

Barkley has never been 'injury prone'

Nakamba had a bad knee injury one as far as I can see (imagine the outcry if we hadn't signed him last summer)

Mengi is 20. Bit harsh. But he was always one for the future, and we had plenty of centre halves at the start of the season.

So I'm not sure the OP's point about how we signed 'loads of injury prone players last summer' stacks up

Barkley by his own admission hadn't played much, some of that was down to injury. I agree he's not injury prone but he had had a few more recent niggles.

We only got Nakamba on loan because he was recovering from injury.

Tbh I actually agree last season we didn't sign many injury prone players, but it has definitely been an area we look for bargains in before

I agree. That's how we still have to operate, I suppose. And tbf, most of the punts we've taken have worked out (Alfie, Carlton, Mengi).
And it feels like Burke only ever became troubled with injuries when he joined us!

"You can't keep doing the same thing and expect a different result." .... didn't we get promoted a season ago?

Not a moaner or anything, but we were far less open when getting promotion. Our ability not to concede was a huge reason we went up. We are now playing with far more open tactics which lead us to getting caught out at the back more often. This is a continuation from the tale end of the prem season.

I agree .... its odd really RE credits the signing of Marv as absolutely key in our promotion but since Marv has been injured he seems to have given up on having defensive cover in midfield

              Yes, a very odd contradiction
