News round-up

I hope I’ve got this right, but going from the press conference, LTFC News and 3CR interview…
McAtee will be sold, Taylor is going on loan. Taylor might not go until we’ve got a replacement in. Watson, like Campbell, “needs to play his football somewhere else.” Krul is officially injured. Like Nakamba, Burke, Andersen and Hashioka he’s “a few weeks away” from contention. Bell is back training and might be ready for Portsmouth or Preston. Mengi is fine for Burnley. We’re “realistically looking at two or three new players,” but that might not include McAtee and Taylor going (which would leave four spaces.) Centre-midfield is being looked at for recruits.

Mmmm, where have I heard a player is a few weeks away before. Oh yes, virtually every club in the world.

Was there a specific update on Hashioka?

They've told him to take as long as he likes. 9 months ideally, just to be on the safe side.

Think you may be surprised by him this season, assuming he is allowed to play in his preferred position

Not specifically, but I assume he was in the “Everyone else” being a few weeks away as Edwards mentioned.

Remember that season when we started poorly and Terry Harris said 'don't worry we'll finish like a train'. Little did we know he meant Thomas the Tank Engine. There seems to be no real forward momentum at the moment. we seem a bit hungover.

He seemed to convey the impressiom that we would be compromised in defence until the injured players returned "and then we will be strong". I wonder if that will become self-fulfilling? Hope not but I would be very pleased with 7 points from the first 4 games
A wing and a prayer

I agree Dutchman.Every game is important in leagues where a point or two can decide relegation or survival or Play Offs or nothing. There are still uncertainties on recovery points and other factors.I don't think we should have arrived at this point.

Nice summary Earls. With the injury record of players we have and where we are now I'm not happy that enough is being done to add depth to the squad. But with RE and his management team, Mick Harford , and GS with their record in recent times you have to accept they know what they're doing. There's probably more going on behind the scenes than we know.

"There's probably more going on behind the scenes than we know."
Of course there is! Way more, I would imagine.

Well summarised.
He was understandably coy on Lockyer but taking into account the recent articles, I think they’re planning for him to be reintegrated into the squad. I suspect that may be January though.
