Once Hashioka got injured Holmes became the scape goat of choice during the streaming of our friendlies.
He's strong and good in the air but lacks speed and looks much more comfortable in the centre of a back three than on the flanks.
It was notable that he was replaced by Walters for the last 45 against Dundee at RCB and then Walters started there against Celta Vigo. This would suggest Walters gets the nod vs Burnley.
I think he's a good player and was highly rated with Reading in the Championship. I suspect he will be battling Mengi and Andersen for a the central birth this season.

Why is it you've assumed we can't attract players? Maybe we've players we've agreed terms with but their parent clubs are either holding off until they've secured a placement or now trying to up the price to something way above the player's worth?
Your constant need to exaggerate lets you down. Real football isn't like FIFA or Champ Man in terms of signing players. And because players haven't been signed yet doesn't automatically mean we've not tried or we can't attract them.

No he’s not at all but I agree that form is absolutely terrible and we did deserve to go down………….however, he is becoming extremely boring and tedious now
Real Cuba makes valid points . It might be that over optimism and bad luck have played their part in what had been a long developing problem.A few experienced and competent people at the club are involved in recruitment and squad matters but we all make mistakes.Our people haven't made many misjudgements over the years though.
I absolutely agree we should have signed a CB by now. But why is it so hard to accept you’re wrong on Mengi and that he’s recovered to full fitness? Either we’re wrong to sign injury-prone players, or we got it right with Mengi, who isn’t going to go missing for weeks. Remember when Mengi returned after a week having gone off near the end of last season and played a blinder? He has form for good recovery time.
(But why is it so hard to accept you’re wrong on Mengi and that he’s recovered to full fitness?)

Because you’ve implied throughout this thread that you’re worried Mengi isn’t really fit, so he’ll be going off again in minutes on Monday. And we both after the weekend said it looked like he’d be out for weeks. I’ve already said I was wrong, top of the thread.
