What do you expect them to be wearing at the training ground fancy dress?

I'd expect players who were training to be wearing training gear, at the training ground.

You know, at the risk of explaining something that doesn't really need explaining.

Injured players recuperating from injury will also be wearing training gear, is the oxygen thin down there?

Brown is in trainers in one of the pics
At least Bell and Anderson are in boots (not the opticians)

Brown and Bell are a couple of weeks away, Andersen and Burke a few weeks after that. Krul, Mengi, Hashioka, Nakamba have had no updates, but haven’t featured pre-season.
Edwards has fibbed before about timescales, sure, but I don’t see any psychological advance about doing the same this early in the season.

So if you take 'a few weeks' to mean 6, as an estimate, we'd only be without Burke and Andersen for 4 or 5 games. And hopefully after the international break we'd be close to a full choice of centre backs.

People seem to have labeled a lot of our players as injury prone purely because pf the crisis we had last season.

Burke is the only one who's had a consistent run of injuries over several seasons, and even he played 2/3 of games last season in the PL.

As I've said in previous posts, I think we do need one more CB, and the club have stated that too. And they'll be signing one. But the clamour for 2 or 3 extra CBs is bonkers and would leave the squad bloated and massively unbalanced, considering by September we'll likely have 6/7 fit centre backs.

People have labelled our players injury prone because some are.

It has clearly been a policy to look for bargains by signing players with an injury history, see

              Doughty
              Mengi
              Burke
              Baptiste
              Lansbury
              Morris

As examples off the top of my head. Even Nakamba we could only get because of injury.

Then on top of that Adebayo gets a big injury once a season.

Then you have Andersen who I don't think had many problems previously but it will be close to a year by the time he's back. A massive part of Bells game is pace and he's had a big hamstring injury and is in his 30s. Brown has done his knee...they're all big injuries

It’s not just at CB where we’re light, though: the midfield needs at least one player, ideally two.
I know everyone is going round in circles lately on the subject, and not many minds are being changed. But any advantage we had in waiting until later in the window to buy players has long been lost: any agent knows we absolutely need a defender and a midfielder, so will surely be upping the prices accordingly when we ask.
I’d have been happy with a CB and a midfielder to get up to the 25, if those spaces had been filled in the past fortnight. I agree, given the returning players, we don’t need more than that until anyone else leaves and is presumably replaced.
But not having those two players in, with time to bed in… ANYWAY.

6 or 7 fit centre backs by September ?!

Hope you're right but I'll believe it when I see it.

Right now we have 2 and probably the worst 2 of the 7

                    Totally agree with this.

We desperately need an experienced CB who can almost be guaranteed to play 75-80% games this season. Even if all our injured defenders are fit by international break, how many will have remained injury free by Christmas? Less than half is my prediction.

I know there will be bargains the closer we get to the window (as well as loan opportunities) but it can't be argued that defence (and also CM IMO) is easily our weakest areas.

It seemed like for every international break last season we had more injured players at the end of it than we did at the beginning of it!
