Is a complete waste of a squad place , he must be made of glass. Great player for half a dozen games a season but that’s no good to anyone. The club have been negligent in not getting players in before the season starts, particularly as there are so many still injured from last season. It would be different if they were last minute injuries but they’ve known for months. It’s ridiculous.

Nope. Burke was one of the few players regularly available for a couple of months once the injuries began. Got injured at the end, but anyone could have done once asked to carry the defence almost single-handedly for regular CBs for so long.

We played 44 games last season.
Burke started 23, he came on as a sub in 3, was an unused sub in 4 and wasn't in the squad for 14.
The 14 that he missed were the first and last games of the season, Arsenal away and a run of 11 games between 29 October and 7 January.

Also, that doesn't mean he was injured for all the other games. Was he first choice, when everyone was fit? Or did he sit on the bench for a few games, despite being available?

Given the 46 includes cup games and cup replays, its reasonable to assume there was some rotation within that as well. You woudl imagine our first choice defence started with bell, Locks and one other.Anderson possibly. It just evolved due to availability
