Is there a campaign to undermine our club and players? Lots of new name negativity on here, straight after the most remarkable story in the history of football.
Is it just one person with loads of names, or a few working together?
Normally I'd say "Hello Bushwood", but the current crop seem even more dense and bitter.

I’ve come to the conclusion there are a couple of man-children (or actual children) whose life experience is limited to playing 14 hours a day on football manager. As a result they don’t understand the difference between spending £5,000,000 of pretend money and spending £5,000,000 of actual money - that or they are equating pretend money and some else’s money to being the same thing (without any grip on reality).

I don't think there is a serious campaign from anyone credible to undermine the club.
There have always been a few strange people or strange fans from other clubs who post things on the internet to get attention and feel important.

I'd say it's a couple of posters. However, one can only assume that, from their criticism of a so far successfully run club, they have vast experience in running a Football League club. Rather than whine, why don't they explain in detail how they'd do it; selecting possible transfers, making the player want to come here, making sure you don't get ripped off, and most importantly, do you have the money and will we fall foul of rules if we spend too much of it? In anticipation...😏

I dont think anyone is deliberately trying to undermine the club. Maybe someone is somewhat critical to how the club communicate and feel a slight lack of information this season, certainly something im feeling a lot of.
When it comes to signings, I believe we are struggling to sign players due to the wage structure at the club, when you combine that with a healthy sceptisism of player agents then suddenly you find yourself limited in options.

The way RE was talking early summer about the financial strength of the club it built a lot of people’s expectations that we were going to be active in the transfer market which so far we haven’t, add to that our current injury crisis and many are worried that we will not be in a position to compete.! We look like we could start the season with only one experienced CB and having seen him play twice now. He doesn’t look like a top half championship CB to me.

I actually feel sorry for some of these 'negative' posters.
One in particular seemed to hate last season and appears to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown before the start of this season.
Football is meant to be fun and a break from the norm, not a slide into deep depression.
Re: Seriously
Posted by Real Cuba on 4/8/2024, 13:43:54, in reply to "Re: Seriously"
I “hated” last season due to the inevitability of it all but more that with other clubs having points docked it meant we had a golden opportunity to take advantage.
How good would it have felt to stick two fingers up at the Elite and send clubs like Forest or Everton down.
Like we have now, a great opportunity to stand a decent chance to go back up but are blowing it because…..for whatever reasons.
It’s hardly a meltdown but those of us in our sixties would rather season the club do well than not, particularly when we have 8 or 9 top class players at this level. Younger fans may be more patient but I remember Southend away and the floodlight match, I think that was our first season in this level after relegation from Division 1 in 1992. Shows how quickly clubs become mundane and the decline continues - we could have done down again that day.
Holmes, Pelly and Woodrow are not at the level we need and we need to get better players in.

I think in years to come you will regret not enjoying last season more. I can't speak for everyone but myself and the group that I go with thoroughly enjoyed it.
When you consider the awful times we have had, last season was an absolute blast. Add in the financing for the ground and the dome and securing the clubs future and I struggle to understand any negativity about last season at all.
I'm certainly not a 'happy clapper' but I truly don't see much to whine about.
Re: Seriously

I would suggest a good number of “us” in our 50s and 60s can remember only too well the various crises the club had endured since the early 1970s and have no great desire to self-inflict another one, particularly those who invested a lot of their own time and effort (not to mention money in some cases) to resolve matters.
I take it you’ll be happy to step forward next time, in the event of things going tits up?

The club aren’t above being questioned or challenged.
The lack of transfer activity since last summer has been underwhelming.
Saying that doesn’t mean there is an agenda or that the club haven’t been brilliant for the previous 10 years.

Something in both views. It's the idiot extremes as usual causing ill-feeling. . The clubs history bearing in mind all factors has been very good for a long time now so yes they should be trusted based on their track record. But you can also understand how close to the wind the squad depth seems to be to a lot fans.
Re: Seriously
Posted by Real Cuba on 4/8/2024, 12:41:18, in reply to "Seriously"
With respect why is asking about the squad size undermining?
Even the manager looked and sounded frustrated about the situation yesterday.
Some may have bigger axes to grind but personally most just want the four signings we desperately need to materialise.
Re: Seriously
Posted by Farhat on 4/8/2024, 12:55:00, in reply to "Re: Seriously"
My post is about WHO is doing the asking, not the questions themselves.
As it happens, I think we do need a couple of really decent signings, but I trust our recruitment team. They rarely get it wrong. Also, the season doesn't really kick in until January. If I remember rightly we were about 15th going into the new year in the season we eventually finished sixth.
Re: Seriously
Posted by Garstang Hatter on 4/8/2024, 13:02:25, in reply to "Re: Seriously"
I'd argue that it's also HOW they are asking the questions. It's quite possible to argue that we need a couple of signings without blaming GS, suggesting that the board are refusing to provide funds or are actively taking funds out of the club before selling (as someone did earlier, I think), etc. Things like that do seem very targeted and with no evidence, which is rather suspect.

This is the crux of it, and to be honest it's partly Luton News fault.
Who is an independent voice asking these questions? Why have we got so many long term injuries and when are any of them due back?
What is happening with transfers?
Why are we always the last to announce our kits, and what happened this season, given keeping the same kit clearly wasn't our original plan

He also said that players we wan to sign have to buy into the long term (the project so to speak). That implies that talks have been held with some players who wouldn`t have been a good fit. And as we know, the team spirit is vital to this team. No point signing "bad apples" for the sake of appeasing internet bed wetters.
Having said that we do need reinforcements in central defence and central midfield. We have 2 squad spaces if no one moves out. I suspect at least one of Krull, Mcatee and Townsend will move which creates an extra space.
2 permanent and a premier loan possibly? Window doesn't shut until the end of August. Spending money , or record fees is no guarantee of success.
I`d rather the judgment or Rob Edwards and Mick over any internet football manager expert but thats just me..

Good post. Edwards’ comments on “The Project” imply we aren’t going to change policy. Rightly so: it got us promotion last time. The issue is, now it’s clear Bell will be the only player back by the end of August, why we haven’t moved sooner, knowing the restraints. Saying the window doesn’t close until the end of August is kind-of irrelevant, when the injury crisis (which again Edwards will have known the prognosis on return times) means we have to move quickly, unless we start the season with very little cover, as cost us last season.
