Loan transfer window

My ever fading brain seems to recall that we were able to take in loans AFTER the window closed for permanent signings.
Or am I dreaming that?
If not, is it still the case that we could pull loans in after August?
I believe it was when Luton were in the Conference.
National League clubs now can still loan players outside of the windows. Glen Rea went to Woking (October 2019) and Gabe Osho to Yeovil (December 2020) to build up match fitness.
