Media is so much better than it was. In fact it's very good now. Can't judge commercial but club shop is a wasteful joke.

Yep the media is very good.

They can only report signings etc as they happen.

If there aren't signings or friendlies yet, nothing for them to report, but they still put out way better content than most clubs.

              I sort of agree.

The club's pretty good on a lot of stuff regarding media, as the James Shea post shows.

I think the issue is a lot of players now have their own media. So they announce stuff randomly and probably catch the club off guard. Saying that, if and when that does happen, as it seems to with Osho, does it take much just to release a quick announcement confirming as much?

Re: Club PR , Media and Commercial

Posted by EastEnder on 10/7/2024, 10:38:28, in reply to "Re: Club PR , Media and Commercial "

                Why?

If he's turned down a new contract offer, releaseing a statement saying he's off could be his way of bargaining for a better off from the club.

Not up to the club to put out a statement about every detail of contract negoatiations.

                  Fair point.

But someone said on here the club has withdrawn our contract offer. If that is the case (which it might well not be) I'm not really sure what we're waiting for.

I don't see why we need to co-ordinate announcements with another club if a player has left us out of contract and is going elsewhere.

                    He's already announced it himself.

Not really going to make much difference now when the club announces it.

As I said last night, there is probably an agreed time for a synchronised announcement by both clubs but Osho seems to have jumped the gun.

The last announcement regarding Osho was when the retained list was named and stated that the club and player were in negotiation. Seems to me that Gabe's personal statement yesterday was his way of saying he hadn't got what he wanted, possibly showing his disappointment in an agent induced strop.

Therefore I assume the club doesn't even know where he's going yet. Personally, I'd rather not see the club get drawn into petty squabbles until facts are known.

Posted by Anon on 10/7/2024, 9:13:49, in reply to "Re: Club PR , Media and Commercial "

So let me get this right. Osho shouldn't post anything on social media about leaving Luton until he joins a new club even though he is no longer employed by Luton. Also we are supposed to synchronise the announcement with the club he eventually joins even though we have done no business with that club?

Re: Club PR , Media and Commercial

In that case, what is there for Luton to actually announce at this stage?

David Wilkinson actually commented on the WALT post wishing him all the best.
Nt sure why the club haven't put anything out. Just shot communication as per usual unfortunately.
Communication from the club was actually better in the conference days!

But it never changes season after season!

Supporter clubs just tend to be mouthpiece for the club rather raise points that might actually upset them.

The general comms and commercial through shop is abysmal. Iíve worked in comms. You manage the story. If new shirts are delayed you put something out saying Ď look out for our new shirts in xx weeksí. Agree you also put out a quick pr when a player pre announces they are off. Same with timescales on many things. If something is late say itís late. Feel they donít to try and get clicks on socials with big announcements. Thatís great when you are making money on your profile, crap when communicating with your fan base.

Club shop is, and always has been, shockingly bad. Was actually better decades ago. Even had a kiosk in Asda!

As I keep posting, there is probably a synchronised announcement agreed with the club that he is joining with any announcement before that embargoed.

Wouldn't disagree on the rest although I suspect that the problem is that, once you start commenting on more, as soon as you don't say anything, the conspiracy theorists would be out in force.
