If they're out of pocket, boo hoo, they should've been smarter and not opened a market on something which is so obviously able to be manipulated.

Profitable players get their bookie accounts restricted, so I have zero sympathy when it happens the other way.

Irrelevant, in his position he shouldn't have been betting, clear conflict of interest. How many more Labour supporters are going to try and defend the indefensible ffs

Lol, if this is indefensible. . .

And I don't think many people are actually trying to defend it as such.

              There's nothing to defend.

He's rightly been suspended and I think has now been thrown out of the party. Issue resolved within a few hours of coming to light.

I don't get your line of reasoning. If he can subsequently affect the outcome by, say, refusing to campaign, surely he has insider knowledge?

Except he controls his campaign. Which just tanked. And Labour are returning his cash donations. And he's being investigated by the Gambling Commission.

I guess he has access to canvassing returns and any private polling that may be done. Notwithstanding that, betting that you will lose can be influenced by not doing your best and deliberately throwing the constituency election (not that I think that he was doing this). But betting to win, is simply betting on your hoped-for outcome

Robert Peston has said that candidates betting on or against themselves, as with Kevin Craig, has been rife. Once the Gambling Commission opens this line of questioning up, this could be as big as the MPs expenses scandal

The big scandal is not the betting.

Kevin Craig donated 100,000 to the Labour Party and was rewarded with the constituency candidacy.

Completely stupid, but I doubt hes using insider knowledge to bet on how many hell lose by
