5 points from safety with 8 games to go after the Preston game.

That escape was massive for our future, I remember NJ more for that than for anything else.

Post-Covid, the Championship TV revenue was critical - had we been relegated that season, promotion to the PL may never have happened.

        Looking back now, that was some escape especially as we had to play so many teams with something to play for. The comment at the end of the match report made me smile though;
The Bedfordshire club will realistically need something from tricky trips to Swansea and Leeds to keep in touch with safety by the time they host Reading on 4 July.
We won at Swansea, drew at Leeds and then got thumped at home, 0-5 by Reading!

Very much under-rated great escape, maybe partly cos fans weren't inside the grounds to watch any of it.

That final game, what was it? One shot on target all game but won 3-2!!!

            Only Luton . . .

The phrase "unbelievable, Geoff" sprang to mind.

Your mind wins in the politeness stakes NaG, mine was a slightly fruitier version

And Walton came up for a corner in 96th minute and if they had scored we would have had to sweat on results of Wigan's appeal against their points deduction.

Still not sure why he came up as the result meant nothing to them.

Yes, they certainly didn't lack for motivation.

Bet they loved us getting promoted .

Seem to remember that Blackburn were annoyed by our time-wasting, and wanted to get a goal to relegate us.

Yep, like they would have approached those last few minutes any differently if the roles were reversed

Amazing how you can have morals when a game means nothing to you

I wish Mowbray all the best health-wise but he is a bit of a sanctimonious prick at times. His salty response to us beating his Blackburn side that day and Sunderland in the play-offs was laughable

I remember watching at full time when NJ did a crab like sideways celebration and went to shake hands with someone from the Blackburn bench who completely snubbed him.

Yes, the Sunderland fans were no better.

I remember them convinced that they would have made a better go at the Premier League than us. Bit rich given the way they took mid table of the Championship by storm this season.
