    Join the Trust:

"With the new stadium on the way, it’s important for us, as a Trust, to look to the future and how we can engage with the future fans who will fill Power Court. Analysis of current Trust membership shows quite an ageing and non-inclusive profile: it’s in our power – yours and mine – to help change that so we can better reflect the diverse communities and age groups that make up the town and LTFC’s fanbase, both locally and from all points of the compass. Please take time to spread the word about what membership means – having a voice in shaping and protecting the future of the club – and encourage friends and family, especially the young and under-represented to get involved.

We’ve seen an encouraging 35% rise in membership this year, and the club is supporting us by emailing details of how to join to its database. Season ticket holders aren’t able to join or renew via their season ticket payment this year and we would encourage everyone to renew or join via Direct Debit - details, including the Direct Debit mandate form, are on the Season Ticket purchase page and you can also find details of how to join on the LTST website at https://www.lutontownsupporterstrust.com/membership-donate/ "

Absolutely no excuse to not be a member.

You'll only be a member if you've set up a Direct Debit or have renewed - lots of people think they are but membership has lapsed, as mentioned in the email that went out from the club re Trust to all season ticket holders recently.

I've got more interested as the Trust is not only in close touch with the Club but also is active with the various initiatives regarding the future of football.

                        https://www.lutontown.co.uk/supporters/golden-gamble/

The prizes are down a bit on what they were but nowhere near as low as half.

I think that the fall in sales is down to several factors.

                        1 The price increase
                        2 Can't pay cash
3 Have to queue up with people buying programmes
4 Sellers not as prominent as they used to be when they were sold separately
5 People not having as much money due to the cost of living and/or the increased cost of going to football

                            Same for me

Don't vendors charge a fee for each transaction on a terminal? If so I imagine that's why the prize money has gone down if they're being charged a % for every £1 or £2 transaction

                              Re: Oi you, yes you

Banking cash costs a (quite substantial) fee as well. Also, there is the safety element of sellers having to walk around with cash. Someone then has to be paid to count and reconcile everyone's takings.

Having said that, I can understand why people prefer to pay cash for them although it always surprises me how many people don't carry any cash at all nowadays.

Sure. From the same email Farhat quotes:

So, what has the Trust been up to during the year? Here’s a quick summary – with heartfelt thanks to all the committee members who work so hard to make these things happen.

                        Social Events

This year, the club supported the Trust committee to help make the annual Presentation Evening a sell-out success at the Riverside suite, with players and management helping make it a memorable and emotional evening….as were Meet the Manager and the ever-popular Quiz Night. We’ve surveyed members about the Presentation Evening, too, and will act on feedback to make it even better next time round.

                        Social Media and Podcasts

With nearly 100 editions of our popular podcasts, the Trust’s socials team feed eager supporters worldwide with regular updates and opinions on all things Luton Town – attracting over 250,000 views and nearly 150,000 audio downloads. And there’s plenty more to come!

                        Supporting Charities

A cheque for £1871 raised for our supporter’s charity, Beds Prostate Cancer Support, was handed over at the Presentation Evening, and in recognition of their outstanding support for Tom Lockyer, we joined with Bournemouth’s Cherries Trust and Talking Cherries to donate over £2000 to the British Heart Foundation. AFC Bournemouth and The Cherries Trust also received the Trust’s Beacon of Light Award. There really are some wonderful people out there in the football family.

                        SoLYD

SoLYD received over £4000 in donations in the year from June 2023, with £1000 going to the new Assistance Fund which helps young players who might be struggling with costs with kit, sustenance and support. This was matched by the Trust, and both SoLYD and the Trust will be donating the same amount again in August. Two defibrillators were purchased for the Academy, and £2000 went was donated towards the U21’s trip to a tournament in Belgium. Thank you for your continued support of the Academy.

                        Hatters Heritage

The Trust sponsor the splendid work of Hatters Heritage, donating £3000 this year towards digitisation of their entire collection – the whole, deeply detailed history of the club – and will continue to do so this coming year. We encourage all members to sign up and support Hatters Heritage, too.

Fair Game , the FSA and the Football Regulator

With football at a crossroads and each of the political parties including the Football Regulator Bill in their manifestos, the Trust has played a key role in campaigning for a fairer deal for football. We have a member on the board of Fair Game, contribute to and support their initiatives and were represented at their national conference in May, with a panellist taking part in the European Super League debate. We’re represented at the FSA too, and support their work towards similar goals as those of FG: a better deal for clubs and fans throughout the football pyramid.

Locally and nationally, the Trust is the ‘voice of Luton Town fans’ in our deepening relationship with the club, communities near and afar and the wider world of football. We need you and your support to continue our work – so thank you for being members, and please spread the word: remember, ‘the stronger the team, the stronger the team’. Enjoy your Summer, and here’s to a brilliant new season 2024/25.

Well yes, but if they can't be arsed looking into the Trust, or reading the club programme, or reading emails there's not a lot of point.

SoLYD is doing very well and some really good things, now under the umbrella of the Trust (it did great stuff previously too of course)

It was hard enough even back in the day to get fans to join, when there was no cost-of-living crisis and a day out at football was about half the price it is now.

To be fair, £10 is still not a great deal to the majority of people, but most fans don't understand what they will get in return for this.

Funnily enough it’s these snowflake types who never seem to get involved, yet are always lightning quick to criticise, and claim no-one asked them to get involved

Oh dear. They don't say they don't want you, they don't have any quotas to fill and they want all fans represented. Understand?

Absolutely no excuse to not be a member.

                                Yeah ok...

Maybe some just don't want to be?

Your choice of course. But don't start moaning that no-one at the trust/club listens to your opinions if you don't bother engaging.

Mind you, some just like a moan, even when handed everything on a plate....

                                    +1

And as GS said in the Trust interview, it's the best route for fans to have input/feedback to 2020

Diversity is the key: at the Presentation Evening you could see it's not a demographic, currently, which accurately reflects the communities and our increasingly diverse fanbase, or the younger generations

You cannot force diversity..if the present membership lacks diversity that's the way it is..I read an article by James May..where he says the lbgtq is being force fed to us..let people or groups change as they want..don't force it

                                        Re: Oi you, yes you

But that's not the point is it? The Trust just want their membership and committee to be representative of the club's fanbase and if it isn't it doesn't disienfrachise anyone (unless you're an oversentitive precious snowflake).

I guess the younger generations were tok young to remember the various off the.pitch struggles when LLSC and TiL were very active.

So many not as easy for them to understand the relevance.

How easy is the PayPal setup now? Would sign up for a couple of people in a heartbeat but remember it being more of a faff.

In all honesty it's not great*. Downloading and using Direct Debit is so much easier.

*they're looking at it, I know - friends encountered probs with it

Appreciate the honesty, only prefer that way as it's all setup for me elsewhere, one click pay etc

Will have a look at the direct debit again later though and try to get it sorted.
