    Spanish Court ruling

See that Madridís commercial court has ruled that UEFA & FIFA were wrong to ban clubs from joining the breakaway European Super League, as they were practising anti-competitive behaviour and abusing their dominant position. This follows on from a similar decision made by the European Court of Justice in December. Be interesting to see how this all pans out for the Premier League, particularly given the current situation with the Football Bill not coming forward as might have been the case a week ago (notwithstanding the petition highlighted in previous posts).

It WASN'T a breakaway European Super League, it was a replacement for the Champions League.

Surely they weren`t "banned" as such. There is nothing to stop a club joining a breakaway league (that is anti competitive with no relegation). They may have been told that if they join a breakaway league they cant play in their own domestic league..thats not banning them from joining.

If the likes of Man city et al buggered off to another league entirely , think most fans would welcome it. Tottenham on the other hand had delusions of grandeur trying to join in on the basis of winning very little

Hope they all leave. 92 clubs in the English leagues and all the rules favour the top 6 / elite.

The problems with that version of the Super League was that the top clubs wouldn't have buggered off. They would have played their little midweek European matches and still be top of the PL. Their pockets would be stuffed with cash that could mean they could have a bloated squad that could deal with playing 2 or 3 games a week and still win everything.
