No it isn't thicko. A bbc report is simply media not social media.

I would class the BBC website as online media but not social media.

Social media are interactive technologies that facilitate the creation, sharing and aggregation of content, ideas, interests, and other forms of expression through virtual communities and networks.[1][2] Although not unchallenged,[3][4] common features include:[2]

Online platforms that enable users to create and share content and participate in social networking.[2][5][6]
User-generated contentósuch as text posts or comments, digital photos or videos, and data generated through online interactions.[2][5]
Service-specific profiles that are designed and maintained by the social media organization.[2][7]
Social media helps the development of online social networks by connecting a user's profile with those of other individuals or groups.[2][7]
The term social in regard to media suggests platforms enable communal activity. Social media can enhance and extend human networks.[8] Users access social media through web-based apps or custom apps on mobile devices. These interactive platforms alow individuals, communities, and organizations to share, co-create, discuss, participate in, and modify user-generated or self-curated content.[9][7][1] Social media are used to document memories, learn, and form friendships.[10] They may be used to promote people, companies, products, and ideas.[10] Social media can be used to consume, publish, or share news.

Popular social media platforms with more than 100 million registered users include X, Facebook, WeChat, ShareChat, Instagram, Pinterest, QZone, Weibo, VK, Tumblr, Baidu Tieba, and LinkedIn. Depending on interpretation, other popular platforms that are sometimes referred to as social media services include YouTube, Letterboxd, QQ, Quora, Telegram, WhatsApp, Signal, LINE, Snapchat, Pinterest, Viber, Reddit, Discord, TikTok, Microsoft Teams. Wikis are examples of collaborative content creation.

Social media outlets differ from old media (e.g. newspapers, TV, and radio broadcasting) in many ways, including quality,[11] reach, frequency, usability, relevancy, and permanence.[12] Social media outlets operate in a dialogic transmission system (many sources to many receivers) while traditional media operate under a monologic transmission model (one source to many receivers). For instance, a newspaper is delivered to many subscribers, and a radio station broadcasts the same programs to a city.[13][/i]

You are wrong on so many counts.

"Social media" refers to sites like Tiktok, Twitter, etc.

Businesses of all kinds have online branches; not for idiots to spout b######s at each other, but to spread their reach, keep customers informed, allow customers to pay their bills and so forth.

I daresay it's not your fault you're too dim to spot the difference.

Yeah but, he's right. He's always right. He's The Outsider.

Mere mortals are occasionally wrong. I think I was, once, in 1986. The Outsider is never wrong. Ever.

He's too polite to tell you that you're a cunt but if he did, he'd be right. Also, you're wrong.

                          Cheers, Jim

I'm really not sure where you're coming from here. Outlaws is the closest I get to social media. I saw this one on BBC news. Please, don't tell me that's clickbait too ☹️

I didn't see it on social media so I wasn't fooled by that - I saw a BBC report which I guess was instigated by the woman rather than Chris Martin. As someone with a disabled wife, I know how much small gestures that help can mean when you are struggling.
