    Away Season Tickets

Posted by PHS on 27/5/2024, 15:08:44

I've just read that you are only allowed to decline 3 away tickets with the Away ST for next season - so you are, effectively, committing to attending 20 away games.

With a new TV deal in place that will, supposedly, be showing a lot more live EFL matches, has anyone read/seen what sorts of times these live matches are likely to KO? I cannot see anything definitive about this but guess the EFL games will be scheduled around the PL match times.

Do you think our ticket office would be a bit more flexible on this 3 cancellation rule if Luton happened to be regularly selected for live matches?

11am or 8pm KO in Plymouth would be challenge! As would some of the other long distant games if they juggle with lots of KO times. We've been used to some long distant midweek games and I'm not fazed by them but I really hope that 3pm on Saturday be still be the norm rather than the exception.

    Thanks in advance.

Friday evening, Saturday lunchtime and Sunday lunchtime. All games on the first weekend will be televised live with no 3pm Saturday blackout in operation.

Yep because there's no Premier league games that day I think. But it applies again once the PL starts on Sat 17 August.

Correct. They will also show all games on the final day.

I heard a lot of them will be Saturday 12.30.

The 3pm Saturday blackout rule still applies doesn't it? In which case none of them can be Saturday 3pm.

Where have you seen that mate? Was hoping they'd go back to 5 or 6 like when we were last in the championship.

5 out of 12 Championship matches will be moved by Sky every single weekend of the season.

Majority of our games won't be Saturday 3pm kick offs.

              Thanks for that.

Wow! I didn't appreciate just how impactful this new TV deal may be.

Each Championship club will, on average, have 23 games shown live ... half of their season! So I suppose 10-11 away games may fall into the live game category.

All midweek and bank holiday league games shown live.

I will still endeavour to get to the away games but those offerings could sway the balance for some of the far flung games.

Conversely, could that mean that our ticket office gets returns from the clubs visiting KR because they cannot sell their full quota for live broadcasts? Possibly more tickets for home fans? If they're not going to watch it on TV, of course!

Yep I think a lot of people still don't realise the massive increase in the number of games that will be on telly and hence require time/day changes. As you say basically half the games will be on telly.

The planned midweek games obviously won't be so much of a problem but I can see it being annoying for the weekend fixtures. Hopefully they will announce the date/timing changes in good time.

May be room for a little flexibility for TV games, however, the Away Season Ticket is aimed basically to give those supporters who wish to attend all / most games the opportunity to so so...

Posted by Red Kite on 27/5/2024, 19:31:15, in reply to "Re: Away Season Tickets"

according to the Sky ports link above, 328 championship games are covered, approximately 13 per club. Where did 50% of games come from, its high but not that high.

One rather major flaw in your calculation. There are two teams involved in each game.
