    Proud of luton

I honestly think people are jealous of our town.
They mock us when we get to premier league, when we host BBC weekend, the airport, etc etc
They prefer to call it worse town in Britain but this weekend has proved we are Luton town

I’m sure you could go on.

How about trying not being a cunt for one day in your miserable existence?

What an absolute success those 3 days where , as living close by in the permit zone we was very sceptical about traffic /parking mainly , the way it was handled was brilliant. Can’t say I heard /see any trouble , hopefully now many more to come.

Really pleasing to read these posts. Grew up in the town in the 50’s and 60’s and it was buzzing with Vauxhall employing some 30,000, Easter Parade etc. Places change and develop. Not lived in Luton since then but the heart is there. It’s been a good year and hope a springboard to regaining confidence and pride again.

Ditto me! Funnily enough born same year as you unless the 1959 refers to something else
Now looking to retirement I’m seriously thinking of moving back…. Well Swindon’s usually in those same lists as Luton anyway!!!
But at least I’d save approx 100 hours a year travelling to home matches! - that’s nearly gaining 3 extra weeks in my life, and at my age every little helps :-)
Might need some advice on what areas to look at……?

With out doubt the football club has brought a different dynamic to the town. Our rise from non league to the Premier League has brought optimisem and on that back of that we are starting to see the fruits of all that hard work.
2020 have to take a bow, they have guided us from those dark days and now we have entered into the light.
The Big Weekend has been a huge success and will leave its mark on the town. What is needed now is a push from the great and the good to build upon this. Luton has many problems but if you can attract the likes of the Big Weekend to the town intertwined with the football club then there is the feel good factor that can change all the bad stuff that goes on,it isnt the overall answer but certainly goes along way to answer some of those questions.
Power Court is going to change this town forever and with it all of us that still live here will benifit on the back of this.
If we are not an industrial town any more then perhaps a glimspe of what can be has been on display this weekend and the season that has just past with our beloved club.
As long as our elected leaders can grasp what has happened and can for the future, happen.

Agree with all that DD but the big elephant in the room that blights our town is still the Arndale. When I was a kid in the 70's I thought it was the best thing that ever happened to the town and that the dark and dingy buildings it replaced were better off coming down. Now I think it was the worst thing to ever happen and it's done more than anything else to rip the heart out of the town centre.
It has to come down itself in some way or another. A huge undertaking of course but not impossible. A staged approach over a number of years maybe with proper streets replacing the malls and an 'open' centre again.

Which makes it even better about the town
