If the best we can do is go back to him for a 3rd stint, I might just give up

Besides, what makes you think he'll leave Charlton?

And I'd argue his business IS finished here. What is this 'unfinished business' you speak of?

Well, for NJ to get us promotion to the Prem. Id say that would be unfinished business.

Say what you like about him but you know what you are getting, he knows the club inside out and would hit the ground running.
As for Charlton, he would leave if a better offer came along. We all know that.

We wouldn't have got promoted if he'd stayed in 2022-23. Soton coming in for him was brilliant timing for us. So, it can't really be unfinished business if he was never going to take us up

I don't care about 'knowing the club inside out'. Why does that matter? Did John Still know the club inside out? Did Edwards?

+1. Would want Liam Rosenior if RE was to go. Hed be a great fit for us.

Wouldn't be disappointed with Rosenior. Seems a good bloke and did a good job at Hull. But he is, apparently, quite defensive-minded hence why Hull got rid

I think we can probably afford to attack the division a bit more than we did in 2022-23 when we ground out a lot of 1-0s and 2-0s

Rosenior's Hull were possession based, to succeed at that you need good passers throughout the midfield, especially a no.6 to start off moves. As it stands now, we don't have the midfielders to play that way and possibly don't have the tricky technical attacking midfielders (except Clicker). Hull had the French lad that used to be at Fulham in centre midfield. We need recruitment in that area anyway after losing Ross & Sambi, plus we need cover for Marv, or as an addition to a double pivot in front of defence.

Not sure that he is defensive minded; I believe his ethos is based on possession football, and being attack minded, albeit was a balance of pragmatism at times.

Think the Hull owner was insisting on chaos theory type football, with all the attacking players at their disposal.

If his version of possession football involves a lot of slow build-up from the back, daft risk-taking in his own penalty area and retaining possession without purpose, then, no thanks

If his version of possession football involves a high tempo, forward-looking/forward-passing, high energy/intensity style, then great

I have heard from people who watch a lot more Hull City than me, that the main gripe was there was a lot of possession for possession's sake

His record here was amazing. A lot of his signings are still here and have served the club well. All managers and players move on when the right offers come along. They are doing a job, they're not like fans glued to one club.
