    Club email re Trust membership

Posted by crumpsall on 23/5/2024, 13:17:57

    Club agreed to send this to their database, which obviously has a greater reach than the Trust has;

THE LUTON TOWN SUPPORTERS’ TRUST NEEDS YOU!

’Supporters must be the fabric of football and right at the heart of every decision that’s made. That’s why a strong Luton Town Supporters’ Trust is essential. So please join the Trust if you’re not already a member”
    Gary Sweet, CEO, Luton Town

What a momentous journey we’ve all experienced this season – and as a season ticket holder or member you’ve been there every step of the way.

Now we’re asking you to take another step that makes the club stronger and even more united: joining Luton Town Supporters’ Club - LTST.

LTST is the official voice of the fans, and a shareholder in the club. As football stands at a crossroads, we need that voice to be loud and listened to. We’re actively engaged not just with the club, but with national and international supporters movements as we fight for a sustainable future for football – and for our beloved Luton Town FC, who are leading the way by setting an example for other clubs.

Becoming a member brings you a lot of fun too, with exclusive in-person and online social events – and we’ll keep you updated on all things LTFC with our popular podcasts, links to club videos, interviews and lively social media. You’ll find more details in the leaflet attached to this email. Why not join us now? It only takes a mo and there’s no better way to feel part of the Luton Town ‘family’ all year round, wherever you are!

Membership costs just £10 a year (£5 for concessions) and you can join right now by completing the Direct Debit form which is included in the leaflet HERE and emailing it or post it back to us – or by visiting www.lutonsupporters.com and clicking on Become a Member.

A couple of things to note:

This year you won’t be able to add Trust membership to your season ticket application – a new system is now in place.

You may think you’re already a member, but actually your membership may have lapsed (this happens a lot!): if you’re unsure, please email membership@lutontownsupporterstrust.com

Don’t worry if you join but turn out to already be a member – we won’t take your payment and we’ll let you know!

If you’re already a Trust member but not receiving regular email, it may be that your email address details aren’t up to date – if so, please also contact membership@lutontownsupporterstrust.com

Let’s finish with the famous words from Luton legend Sir John Still: the stronger the team, the stronger the team. So please join the Trust today and play your part in that team. We need you to help us support and shape the future of our club – and of football.

    Gary Sweet Tony Murray
CEO Luton Town FC Chairman LTST

What a shame it hadn’t been reviewed properly for errors.

I received it and wasn’t sure who it was asking me to (re)join, LTST or something called “Luton Town Supporters’ Club” - see 3rd paragraph.

And the web address in the link - www.lutonsupporters.com - doesn’t work, presumably because that is wrong too.

      A complete cods tbh.

A typo has happened, this is a tragedy beyond comprehension, why must we live in such a broken world?

They have been picked up on and will be addressed.

'Complete cods'? Behave. That's a twat thing to say.

            Behave yourself.

We now have a social media “team” - not sure how big - and they have been doing a great job with videos etc.

But here the person/team responsible failed with the basics. Whether that was at LTST or the club or both - which would be two failures - it was a bit of a cods, even if it upsets you.

It doesn't upset me at all. Nor do a couple of minor typos. Yes should have been picked up on but to call the email a 'complete cods' as you did is nonsense and, to repeat, a twat thing to say.

The only significant error is one email link.

The tone of your initial post is that of one of those sad cases who love to find fault. But rarely ever do anything themselves. Would that perhaps apply to you? I have no idea who you are of course, and I'm just passing on comms from the club/Trust

Right, so an email from the club asking us to join an organisation that doesn’t exist, via a link that doesn’t work, sent from an email account that won’t take replies - such as mine trying (helpfully) to advise them of this - is no big deal?

You suggest in your response that “They have been picked up on and will be addressed” even though your posting didn’t pick them up and address them and - 24 hours later - neither the club nor the Trust have re-emailed with the corrections.

It gives me no pleasure, but it is, definitely, a bit amateurish. Not necessarily the original email (though probably), but definitely the lack of any follow-up.

If it is important, then get it right, and don’t be so pointlessly defensive when someone points out an error or two.

                  Whatever.

I happen to know it's working well and people are clicking on the direct debit link, which is correct.

                  So not perfect but effective.

An organisation that doesn't exist but is named correctly six times as opposed to one typo in its abbreviated form?

One link which doesn't work alongside three that do?

And no official club emails take replies, do they?

As for no corrected version so far, can't answer that.

How about YOU get involved and do something positive?

'The only significant error is one email link.'

Tbf, in an email asking people to sign up getting the sign up link wrong is pretty poor!

There is, I am told by Trust board/committee members (I'm not one!), a bit of an issue with people who think they're members but whose membership has actually lapsed.

So your solution as above, or rejoining with a Direct Debit as per email, is the perfect solution

Mainly my fault for the lapse(s) but as you say, life membership solves it.

Just to confirm - if we were to join today would our membership be only until 30 June and we would be charged subs again on 1 July. Is it better to wait until July?

If you join by Direct Debit (the preferred option), your payment will not be collected until 1 July 2024 but you will become a member straight away.

Nope, join today and it's through to June 2025.

Asked the very same question myself!
